To Serjo Rilmas Athyrion, Arch-Mage of Marog
I'm not sure if you remember the circumstances, but six years ago I joined the great House Telvanni to became your apprentice in Marog. I was eager to learn the secrets of the art of magic from one of the wisest and most revered sorcerers of all of Morrowind. It turned out my expectations were not to be answered.
For one and a half years I did not face my master, and then the first words you spoke to me were: "Fetch the soul of that Ogrim from my desk!" Though disheartening I could have sustained it: who was I but a humble apprentice? After all weren't you doubtlessly concerned with your own important research?
Furthermore I could have sustained the attitude of my colleagues who sabotaged my equipment, stole my research notes or dragged any idea I dared mention openly through the mire. I had never pondered locking away my equipment or keeping ideas by myself--until these days.
More than two years I persevered in the vain hope it'd become better once I reached the 'inner circle' of the tower. But unfortunately my hopes were to be dashed. Futilely I tried to draw your attention towards my work. Futilely I tried to gain your support for my research.
So eventually; in one moment of weakness; I left Marog and joined the Mages' Guild instead. I must be blamed: it was an outrageous act of treason! The fact that I feel at home at the guild even increases the guilt I have burdened myself with.
Nothing could be said or done to excuse such an atrocity. Nonetheless I will try to explain my doings: it was my inferiority causing this treachery. I do not merit to be your apprentice, I do not even merit to polish your shoes. Indeed, you are master Rilmas Athyrion and I am just a nobody!
Perhaps it would have been the best course of action if you had sent me away at your own instigation. However your good will kept me in Marog and thus I happened to disappoint you disdainfully. Could you have foreseen it? No. It was no one but me who overrestimated my capabilities.
These were the circumstances which led to my foolish and cowardly departure. Since then my decision haunts me and I agonize over what I could do to make up for my disgrace. Alas! There is nothing I can do. The damage is done.
If you know a way how I could compensate, please let me know and it shall be done. Until then I can only assure you of the gravity and sincerity of my remorse. I have to apologize for my gratelessness and recreance. You deserved a more loyal apprentice than I was.
I hope you prove munificence and forgive your former apprentice who failed you so miserably.
With deepest regrets,
Francine Aldard

Dear Francine Aldard,
I received your letter and the request you made with it. Although we, the Temple, appreciate any interest in our beliefs, I fail in seeing the point of your request. From what your messenger told me and judging from your name I assume that you are an outlander. Therefore you might not be familiar with the customs and traditions of our kin.
The Dunmer and especially we, the Temple, are practicing the tradition of conserving the remains of our beloved ancestors and relatives as bonewalkers since the days of Saint Veloth. In fact this tradition has not undergone changes since these days. To think one could scientifically investigate or even improve a tradition which is in practice since generations would be arrogant and foolish.
Therefore we can't allow you to interrupt the exertion of our tasks by these measurements. Of course you are always welcome to visit the bonewalker smithies in Necrom as long as you don't disturb our priests working there. And, if you are truly interested in the art of creating a bonewalker then there's still the possibility to join our Temple. I'm sure if you prove faithful you will be assigned to this divine task.
Yours,
Bradys Hlaalo

Commander Rethrathi,
Recent developments have convinced me that the disappearance of one of my Khajiiti slaves -- Mjara -- from my tower in Marog was abetted by a traitor among my personnel. I have received an 'apology' letter from a former apprentice -- a Breton named Francine Aldard -- who had left Marog approximately at the same time as the slave did.
Allegedly she did so out of grievances with certain individuals in town, but since I can recall neither any debt she had failed to clear, nor any damage she had inflicted upon my tower, such an apology aroused my suspicion. When it came to my attention that both Mjara and Francine Aldard have settled in the Mages Guild of Akamora, little doubt remained that this apology was merely a cover-up, a hypocritical confession to imaginary sins in an attempt to detract from an actual crime.
I want to point out that I'm not suggesting you to operate in Akamora or on Indoril territory in general; a common slave doesn't merit an escalation beyond the Windmoth district. However, should Francine Aldard be identified by your men within your district, I require her to be arrested and interrogated. It goes without saying that the same pertains to Mjara.
Sincerely
Master Rilmas Athyrion

Commander
I know that you are under pressure to arrest Aspanu Pisca since that incident with the two dead women last month. I, on the other hand, am fed up with Aspanu giving out our hard earned stuff to 'widows and orphans'.
Perhaps it was to our mutual advantage if you could get hold of Pisca: you can prove what a competent officer you are and I will be able to keep the meager plunder that we somehow brought together.
If I was able to pique your interest, leave a note inside the knothole of the big tree at Verulas Pass.
Julian

Here's the sum we agreed upon, and I don't have to remind you that by all means it must look like an attempted escape.
