Hi there! I made some quick concept for Dres noble-clothing for one of the three clans. If you wonder what’s around their eyes, it’s make-up, which shows some form of authority and also is intended to intimidate.

http://ateiggaer.deviantart.com/art/Dres-Nobles-Clan-X-635571174

This is a second concept of Dres slave-hunters of the same clan.
Warning: Contains some gore.

Some Redoran from the Velothi mountains. Now in color.

They are all good but I especially love the Redoran in the snow.  It's beautiful.

I really like these! (Did you post them in the Dres thread? These should go there for sure.)

For the Dres nobles, I quite like their clothes. I don’t remember if we decided if the Dres would be fancy wearers; they’re certainly less fancy than the Indoril, but then again the ashlanders do like their bling. I like these clothes and would want them to get used anyway. (Though Dres may want to show of their stuff, not because “stuff” is in of itself cool, but more to indicate that they made lots of beneficial transactions.)

I like the idea of makeup. I don’t know if that got used much elsewhere in Morrowind, so this is an opportunity to use it.

I like the way the clothes seem to have lots of layers. Layers are good for protection.

I like the colors also, as the Dres probably won’t be wearing much that is dark if they’re down in the sun a lot.

For the slave hunters, I like the atmosphere you have going, and the clothes they have. I wonder though: do we want the dres to wear less clothes (heat?) or more clothes (protection from noxious elements?). They might natively wear less, but put on more when the storms show up. We definitely had the idea of a division between indoor and outdoor clothes, where indoor clothes would be fancier and more comfortable, but outdoor clothes would be hardier and more all-encompassing.

For the Redorans, I really like the combination of fur and bug. Bugs are weird and all, but furry bugs are rare and weird, so I like that combination of bug armor, hard carapaces and also soft but warm furs. Redoran would definitely wear plenty to keep the cold out. I like the usage of head wraps here.

@Apotheosis, thank you, I hope to do more like those, they remind me somehow of those pictures on toy-soldier packages.

@Kaziem, fistly thank you for the great feedback!

I think I posted them first in the House Dres discussion thread, but as it is a discussion and I had concept art, I took them out again.

My thoughts exactly! I also don’t think that they’re fancy wearers let alone know much about “fashion”. You can think of the picture like it’s out of a fashionmagazine about the Dres, where everything is a bit exaggerated in terms of color and details, just to fit as much as possible of  their culture into one picture. Thats a good idea, that they just want to show of that they made some prosperous deals.

The makeup could also be a relic of some war-painting, that changed it’s purpose to a purely cosmetic one.

Yes! Cultures that live in deserty, hot places tend to wear a lot of layers for protection from all kinds of things, that’s the idea behind it.

About the colors I’m not entirely sure, cause black isn’t that uncommon in the real world actually, but maybe the dres nobles would carry brighter colors than the normal people, to also show that they can afford to dye their clothes in bright, more vivid colors.

I think that’s a mistake on my side, because I thought of them just coming home from a raid in the jungle, where the air is more humid and it’s maybe more comfortable to be bare chested for the experienced slave hunters, but maybe I should’ve drawn a more lush background then, but yeah in the hot desert it makes less sense to walk around like that.
Indoor and outdoor clothes is a very interesting idea, I like it.

Yeah I was just in the mood to draw some Redoran for once, because I love the idea of them living in a colder region. Yes they probably have to make a trade between wearing a bit less armor for more protection against the cold and being a bit lighter when hiking through the steep mountains. I would love if Tamriel Rebuilt would add some headgear that unarmored characters could wear, one of them would be head wraps. smiley

PS: Sorry for using your aspargus trees without asking, but they’re so cool.

Oh, no worries with the trees. Look, if someone concepted it for TR, frankly, it’s open for others to concept in their own art.

The Dres discussion thread is for discussion, but discussion is greatly helped by concepts.

Made some more woodcuts for the books.

The first one is an old one I remade, to better fit the description of Templar Tribe.

Excellent! I love that style, by the way. It’s simple and clean, but nicely stylized in a way that fits Morrowind very well.

Thanks! My thoughts too, I also enjoyed making them.

Another three, I think for the time being, the last ones, if there’s no need for more or improvments on the existing woodcuts.

Nice style, Ateiggaer.  I like them a lot (the dres farther up and these three).

The more I venture into the realms of wisdom, the more I realize that all wisdom is nothing but illusionary and theoretical.
So, in order to go completely illiterate and bogus, I need to know more about everything.

Thanks oldChimer, I hope to do more concepts soon!

I tried something new with an earlier concept I made about Dres noble clothing. Tell me what you think and if I should make more of this sort. :-)

The headwearisation of Morrowind

The plan for this is to flesh out factions more, give them distinct looks and recognisability.
First in this series: The Mages Guild

In terms of gameplay, this headwear means two things; give the player more options for the apperance of their character (also for those who like to roleplay and play dress-up wink) and to give people who specialise in the unarmored skill also an option to wear something enchanted on their head without having to level one of the other armor skills. Especially handy for mages, necromancers and battlemages. This also means the headwear, like other clothing, provides no armor.

another time unqualified statements from me: wink
The Dres noble is cool, but perhaps not exactly a patrician but rather a bit too Ashlandish and plebeic.  Don’t know what the others think, but I’d put him into the commoners, not into nobles.
Headgear is nice.  There’s much too few of this in MW in general (especially this ugly „Nord” cone fur hat… *shivver with extra v*).  I especially like the assassin-style gear of the Spellsword –– if you’d make him wear light armor, say, a leather/iron combo, it’d be even cooler, IMHO.

Not at all unqualified oldChimer, thanks for the feedback!
Yes after looking at it again he certainly looks less fancy that I imagined he would be. A difference between poor and richer would probably be, that nobles could afford to dye their clothes in more vivid colors, while the poor wear more grey, brownish colors, with the occasional blue or violett. But then again Dres aren’t supposed to look very fancy.
Good suggestion, seeing as it is the legion, I can see also versions of the battlemages wearing lighter armor.

I made something for you guys at TR. It could be used as some sort of promotional material for the public, modders. Maybe you’ll find it useful.

Come to Tamriel Rebuilt! We have delicious food, sweet, stimulating Velk Nectar and the good ol’ Skooma Pipe! Laugh with us, dance with us, sing cheerful poems about past times and relive the old glory of House Indoril , before its demise. Reality can wait til’ tomorrow!

http://ateiggaer.deviantart.com/art/Indoril-women-640459432

These two Indoril women wear a hat with fake hair, as it is very chic in Indoril society (It would be implemented like a normal helmet, as the wig covers the ears and the hair of the character). On the back they have some imitations of insectwings, it’s not traditional Indoril, but rather inspired by Telvanni attire.

Re dres dude:
I like it— especially the little belts on the pants that could go over tops of boots for additional protection. I’d think that protection from the elements would be important, if not in a practical sense, then maybe stylized versions for the nobles.

Re hats:
I like them! Especially the lopsidedness of them. I’m not sure about integration with current factions, but I could see, for instance, House Indoril doing it, or other commoners or people sporting fancy hats. Dres would probably have protective headgear but less on the fanciness.

Re the last thing: hat with fake hair sounds like a great idea! Wigs have been a traditional part of many societies, and would make an interesting addition to the cultures we have. Indoril has always been the fancy pants house, so I can see that tying in with them. I can also see it being a more common thing for nobles or wealthy dunmer in general (in a, requries wealth but is still somewhat practical sense).

Of course! Sadly I can’t model them myself (yet).

Which ones would you like to see as asset requests?

Thinking all the seashells/slugs on the left mostly; since they’re for merchants they’d get to appear sooner than any other Telvanni enhancements – in Tear or elsewhere,

The veil-mushrooms and the earlier scarf-hats look good but I don’t know how feasible they are. Soft materials, with neck animation... For the veils, transparency is possible but does it look convincing…

Hmm. Yeah they certainly could pose a challenge I could imagine.

For the tranparency I thought of Almalexias Hands, they have some tranparent material in their robes, but idk if that would look good, yeah.

Morag Tong assassins: http://ateiggaer.deviantart.com/art/Morag-Tong-657779635

I made some more concept art for the Chap-Thil, the cow-(bug)boys of the Deshaan.

On top they are fully geared and protected against the noxious winds of the desert, while out bug herding. When not herding, they also do simpler work in their normal clothing.
There are three different colors present, each one for another clan.

Their heads are completeley covered by straw hats made out of dryed grass that grows only in the Deshaan. This straw hat is the ultimate symbol for a Chap-Thil, so they pride themself in making them themself, which results in varied shapes and forms.
On a more practical side, they can hide themselves under them, be it out of shame or because some shady past.

My jaw just dropped to the ground...

If I could I'd model them, but robes don't work just yet. It's a skill to master that just jumped a few spots higher tough

Thanks for that great compliment Asylum!

I adore the models you made for plants and creatures, so seeing models for those robes would be amazingly cool and I can imagine that learning to do clothing for Morrowind takes some time. All I can model in blender is some cups frowncheeky
