Edit: added to the asset browser: http://www.tamriel-rebuilt.org/asset/house-dres-tapestries  -10Kaziem

Here are some tapestries that I’ve been making (got a digital drawing tablet, yay!). Still more to come, but I’m posting what I’ve got so far for comments. My goal’s to have enough tapestries so that the Dres interiors wouldn’t need to use the vanilla ones to make ‘em more special.

I like the patterns a lot! That is something that would fit well on the exterior of the buildings/cantons aswell. I hope you keep the patterns in a photoshop document for later use.

I especially like the one with the white painting.

I like these! They feel very natural, they’re very good, and I like the overall color scheme as well. From a critique point of view, there are a few small things: I would think a little more color variation within each texture could be nice, as well as slight canvas/rug filtering on some of the drawn parts to make them seem like they’re really on the surface of the rough weave, rather than just painted flat on top.

To be more specific, the three in the middle that are just cloth, the cloth is all, totally, one color (purple, for instance) but in real life things that are actually all one color invariably pick up different colors from their surroundings; hidden in there are usually traces of other colors like grey, brown, red, green, etc. Not much, but just enough that it isn’t totally uniform.

Does: concepts, textures, youtube vids, admin stuff e.g. PR, handbook, assets, small website things. Activity level: wildly unpredictable. Still active. Find me on Discord.

Thanks for the feedback, it was super helpful! Good to know I’m on the right track with this.

I’ve added more color variation to the first three sets of tapestries as well as an additional (subtle) canvas filter. Also added a purple variants to the last two sets. These will get more color variety when I get to it.

I like the color variations, and the new purple ones. More on the line of critique (again, these are great, this is just improvement advice if you’d like some): looking at the canvassy one with white paint, the subtle canvas texture there is very good. The black ones don’t seem to have it, though; it may be necessary to actually lighten up the black until it’s not really black, just dark grey, and then put a little shadow on it. Or, put a slight highlight on it to get the canvas texture to be there. Also, for the ones that are just rugs, one thing that happens during color transformations in Photoshop or similar programs is that the contrast within colors gets chopped off. By that I mean, take a look at the brightest parts of the purple weave in the texture. They plateau out at a fairly saturated purple color, and there are visible blobs of this color. Ideally, there would be no “plateaued” spots; you wouldn’t see the purple max out anywhere. You just see continuous color variation. Once that has happened, you might have to fix it by hand, or you might have to be more careful transforming it from the originals. (This effect happens a litte more visibly in the yellow one.). You can also see it by thinking about an overexposed photograph; this is the same effect. Last piece of advice: black stuff should never actually be black, it should always be a dark greyish color. This allows you to put subtle variations on it; if you color it all #000000 Real Actual Black (TM) it washes out just like using pure white. It’s not as noticeable, which is why I’m listing it in my super-critique zone.

Again, I like these and would use them as is; the advice is to push them to be even better than they already are.

Seeing as how you guys just updated I see this mod is still active and in development. Question!!!!

These areas that you guys are making have already been made in Elder Scrolls Online. Wouldn’t it be a good idea to take screenshots of these places in game and reimagine it?

I don’t really have anything to contribute to the OP, so setting the answer to this question in a spoiler!

Hey, I see some new tapestries! They look great. I really like the irregular shape hanging.
