This thread is for collecting information on how to become a reviewer, and also as a reviewer what to look for.  We will be writing up a short guide for both laypeople (members/developers) and for lead developers. This guide should cover:

Reviews are needed for: interiors, exteriors, quests, scripts, and assets (textures, animations, sounds, models)

  • What qualifications do you have to have to apply
  • What test do you have to take, and what are the specifics on passing the test
  • When you do a formal review, what attributes are you looking for? Are there any helpful programs or guidelines?

And anything else you can think of.

If you know how to do any of these things or have input, please post below. I will begin compiling a guide for these in this first post.

I want to add that it’ll definitely need a new test file to work with.
The old one with the Telvanni int isn’t fitting anymore, I think it should be done with a common set like Velothi or Imperial.
And it should also be clear how much a reviewer is allowed to change in a file. I’d be fine with a pretty open policy; most of the larger changes I saw were good ones.

thoughts on Kaziem’s points:

Requirements for application: being proven as a capable modder (via showcase) who doesn’t need supervising/review because of the quality delivered, maybe also approving suggestions as a reviewer by current review-allowed staff

Tests: pre-reviewing showcases and/or regular edits, with a renowned reviewer looking over the shoulder and re-confirming the review or guiding the applicant in things to do/to look out for.  Variant: giving the applicant a plug-in with some easy, harder, and tricky-to-spot stuff and evaluate what he/she found and commented on.

Reviewing aids and methods: no idea except for general standards in landscape/exterior/interior editing, quests, and scripting, but I think the review crew can say a lot here.

The more I venture into the realms of wisdom, the more I realize that all wisdom is nothing but illusionary and theoretical.
So, in order to go completely illiterate and bogus, I need to know more about everything.
