Hello,

I apologize if this has already been mentioned, but I didn’t find a search function on the forum and I honestly don’t have the patience or time to use other methods. You may already know about those, so here goes nothing...

I tried the mod today for the first time. I watched a video on how to install it and it was said there that the Code Patch is recommended to be installed too. I installed it and only patched the things that came by default. I also used MGE to generate distant lands. I also used the terminal to fool around by increasing my attributes and mainly flying around with character speeds such as  “player->setspeed 5000”, “10000” and “tcl”.

I don’t know if any of those factors had anything to do, but it caused my game to crash a couple of times upon flying by Mournhold or something, I don’t know. It was southeast – some really massive city with this Mournhold-like Asian/pagoda achitecture.

Which leads to the second issue – the landscape isn’t fully displayed on the in-game map. I don’t have more than basic PC knowledge, but to my understanding it’s something to do with the original design to only house Vvardenfell and Solstheim, so anything past certain invisible borders just doesn’t get displayed.

I also found a curious sub-issue – when I reach the edge of what is displayed on the map, the cursor displaying my character starts to shrink or fold depending on the direction I’m facing. This is really intriguing and unexpected.

Overall, I know that there are always crashes with software in its early stages, so I don’t have problems with that, I just wanted to let you know about it. And I’m really curious as to how do you intend to make all of the landmass being displayed on the map, really, really interesting.

Thanks and good luck with your work, it’s really remarkable.

There is no way we can fix the crashing, unfortunately. Morrowind is very delicate when you cross cell borders and a speed of 5000/1000 means you cross too many cells in too short a time for the engine to handle.
You might make it a bit more stable if you disable thread loading in the ini, but that will slow down cell load times.

As for the map, that’s hardcoded into the Morrowind.exe and TR cannot change it. However, the Morrowind Code Patch has an option that extends the minimap so that all of the TR landmass can be displayed. This might become moot once everyone switches to OpenMW, though.

Ah I see, thanks. I was curious, but I think I already know the answer to this one. TR won’t be able to integrate with Skywind, right?

I’m also looking forward to see those south desert regions that are about to come in the future. Best of luck with the project!

Ah I see, thanks. I was curious, but I think I already know the answer to this one. TR won’t be able to integrate with Skywind, right?

Skywind uses completely different assets, it’s also going to be missing all the many features like Skyrim did (limited weapon & armor options, no clotching under armor, many removed skills and spells, just to name a few). So it’d basically require at least the same effort (if not more) to convert our landmass. That is if we'd even allow it.

I’m personally not very excited about Skywind, as it’ll lack most of the cool (and I guess oldschool) gameplay elements that I simply don’t want to live without. I’m also not a big fan of how Skyrim did melee and magic, I much preferred the way it was done in Oblivion.

Especially after that I’ve seen now what’s possible with OpenMW (see the multiplayer mod), I’m sure that there will be a mod that adds a new combat system sometime. I’d be the happiest person alive if somebody basically copied the Mount & Blade combat system into OpenMW laugh

TR is a Morrowind mod, Skywind is a Skyrim one. The only integration you could conceivably see is a port to the Skyrim engine (like the one for Morroblivion), but that’s not something that’s going to happen on our end.
