Roads need to be fixed. This was just brought to my attention. Don't review this just yet. I will have a new file up in a couple of hours though.

edit:

nvm this needs to be redone again to match Theo's claim, send it back to claimed.

sorry

Fixed, roads added and terrain altered to match Theo's claim.

Only question is what kind of road to use through the WG hills: paved or dirt?

edit: sending this out with dirt roads, reviewer can change it as they see fit.

Use this file for reviewing. Mountains matched for future changes to 4-23.

The mountains could/should perhaps be raised on the western edge, so that it's one continuous cliff face bordering the Ashlands. That way we avoid an unpleasantly obvious claim border seam (inexplicable 'valley' in cliff face).

You could also keep the road as it was in this claim, going all the way up to the border (but now without dropping in height), and then making sure that in claim 4-23 it reaches an outcrop. Or make it turn south in this claim, so that the outcrop overlooks the Ashlands, rather than looking into what ought to be more cliff face.

Heh, sorry for the constant commenting. I just find TR to be a problematically good method of procrastination at moments of less gripping work! :P

Anyway, great job, this is all shaping up to be really brilliant.

I didn't think about that...

There could be a pass there too unless we don't need one. It doesn't need to contain a road at any rate.

The lookout can look northwest, I think I can build the mountains without having to change it. Looking out over the ashlands would be neat though, I will think on ways to do that elsewhere.

Northwest would be Roth Roryn. It needs to be looking south to see the Armun.

As for a mountain pass, I think just make the terrain even. I don't like having claim borders have inexplicable geographic features, and it would defy the point of the mountain border.

This one can look northwest into the RR, others can look elsewhere though.

I can patch that up then if/when I start on 4-23. I want Nomadic's permission first before I do anything to his claim.

BC: Note for reviewer:

I get a bunch of errors like this: "Missing object "TR_m4_crate_02_ironore" for reference during cell "TR_4-49 Iron Mine" load" when nearing these cells in game.

edit: I accidentally removed that when I cleaned the file

On the Scenic Viewpoint, you have to remember that RR is mostly mountainous, and so if done right shouldn't really have much to look at except rocks piling up in your face. It would be a lot better to have a place where you can stand and look out across the ashy expanse, and where better than here, where the player's either just come out of the Ashlands, or is just about to head in to them.

I also think the length of the path should be kept so that the viewpoint itself is in 4-23. But that's really up to you.

Thanks for the clarification on the boxes.

I was going to make some changes to the western border so it matches 4-23 a little better. I'll take care of the crates while I'm at it. I'll have that up this afternoon.

Hey, can I add an int to this? I'm thinking a hermit's cave.

Here it is.

Below the little overlook is a hermit's cave and a rock ledge leading into the RR. No road, just a curiosity and a point for exploring the wilderness.

Hi Tyrion,

I'm sure if anyone, you could review your own exterior. And even though Im not exactly an exterior reviewer I though I'd take a look for you anyway.

This is me doing my so called 'exterior review':

Light_de_lantern_02 - (near the shack) is floating mid air.

Your cells in the north;
You have grazelands ground textures and If im not mistaken its meant to be an RR region?, I'm not certain about that but If so, you'll generally need to replace all those textures with WG Textures. Also I noticed you have a couple of grazeland texture patches in some wg rock and on the west side which look a tad odd.

Your transiton from AA to RR looks very nice and Im happy by the fact you used a variety of those in_ar statics, which I think are great but under-used imo :)

What caught my eye though, I really like how you you hid or blended all those iron rocks into WG rocks, thats great! :D

Eitherway Its a good mine, It reminds me alot of Borderlands because its open and it makes me think we should have more open mines.

Keep up the good work there!

EDIT:
Is this claim meant to be RR? I'm a little confused now what with all the WG rocks. :S

I didn't touch the mine, that's all Nomadic's work I think.

The hermit cave Tyrion mentioned never got made, did it?

Anyway, there's a cave claim already existing for this exterior, but it's a river grotto for a river that no longer exists. Should I just change the co-ordinates for that and return it to unclaimed, or make an entirely new claim?

Any chance that there is another river that could have a grotto? It is ok if there isn't, but wasting work is generally frowned upon if it can be avoided.

Again with a view to an AccMap run (is that still on the cards, TF?) this file fixes a small mix-up with the road joins between this and the southern claim.

This claim here isn't the roth roryn at all. It's a mix of GL, Armun Ashlands and WG rocks. I even see some GL grass textures and a lot of the gray west gash rocks.
This claim should be sent back.
I think it's only a few hours of work; it's only retexture the ground, search and replace some rocks and finally add some rocks.
The mine looks cool.

Wasn't it an intentional decision that the Iron mine have different rocks, to mark it out? I thought this was all discussed in the 4-20 thread, from which this was split, but it seems the convo I remember may have been lost in the merge, or maybe it happened on IRC. In any case, those could probably stay.

I don't know the nitty gritty of the Roth Roryn situation... I don't see why it couldn't change a little as it nears the border with the Ashlands, but if it's a jarringly noticable change from neighbouring claims then some fixing might be needed.

The WG was discussed and it was agreed upon to leave it around the mine. The GL bit was in place before we started RR, so it does need to be redone, along with the claims to the east.

Yes, that one too. I think the only thing that would really have to change would be the ground textures.
