4-40-Red

Post by Haplo »

Claim type: Exterior
Claim ID: TR_4-40-Red (#682)
Faction: Redoran
Claimed by: Scamp
Status: Approved (Progress: 100%)
Location: (-12,-15):(-10,-17), Size: 9
Files: TR_4-40-Red_Haplo_1.esp

---

Roth Roryn Region, please refer to the image:

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b94/ThrignarFraxix/4-40Lined.jpg

The entirety of this claim is part of the Roth Roryn region. The light blue line is where you are to add a river. The purple dotted lines represent the roads. The image of these roads above is just a basic idea though, and you need to make them more interesting. However, it's important that they are at the same points when they cross over into other claims.

Claimer must draw a proposal for the roads in their claim over the image linked above before they will be granted it.

Claiming my first ext claim ever. Will follow the description.

I'm gonna add a bridge where the road crosses the river, and perhaps a small ancestral tomb, as you can see in the image.
However, here's the road map:

/um, but why doesn't it work? /

Edit: Oha, no wonder if BBCode is still disabled...

Direct link it, or upload the actual image to your post, is what I'd suggest.

Granting. Include a cave somewhere off the main road, either on an offshoot or just in the wilderness. Bandit or uninhabited, your call.

With the blessings of Almalexia upon me, I post an update. (Actually, I heard somewhere that exterior progress makes people feel warm and fuzzy)

Now, 50% is a very encouraging guess though.

The cave is just in the wilderness, and will be uninhabitated .

Edit: btw, I didn't use the new TR_data since it was too late when I saw it...

Just extract it over your current one, and ignore any messages the CS gives you about the versions being wrong. It'll fix itself next time you save.

Thanks I just meant it was too late because I already uploaded before I downloaded the new one :-D

I'm too busy too upload again so ignore the error messages yourself.

Ok I bumped this one back to 30%, due to me not liking the old layout and getting some tips.

You should start making a habit of updating your version of TR_Data.esm and .bsa whenever they get updated here.

Also, are you starting from scratch? And if so, why? You are conspicuously missing a fairly large Dwemer ruin straddling cells (-11,-17) and (-11,-16).

Shit shit...

1. My version of TR_data is definitely the latest, the error message is because I don't have an english version of Morrowind.

2. Krashhhz I apologize for not realizing I have to include that ruin I thought it wasn't necessary because it wasn't mentioned in the claim description. Should I bring it in my latest file or start over again by editing the already existing area?

I didn't know about the different version of MW, that's okay I guess.

As a common rule of thumb, unless we specifically say the WIP sucks and should be completely scrapped, you should always use it as a base to work off of. You can create a similarly-sized ruin from scratch yourself, or try to bring in the old one.

I will, of course, try to bring in the old one. Sorry again. But it's good though that I know I have to use the WIP next time. I just didn't know about the rule.

Btw, I'm gonna buy an english version of Morrowind some day, but it's indeed no problem since the error message doesn't occur again after saving the combined thing afterwords, the objects and so are the same anyways.

WIP up so that you guys can see the ruin. I did it pretty circuitous, you know, I copied it in a separate cell, deleted everything but the cell by using TesAme and combined the plugins, just to have the ruin roughly like it is in map4 file. Hope it's OK that I rearranged it a bit though :-P.

Thanks for bearing with me!!!

New WIP. Still no shading, have to remove jagged terrain, playtest and some misc stuff. Should be finished soon though. The file order is on the blink, it's the #6 file, just to make sure.

I have looked at your claim and I must say it's quite good.
The most western cells are the best in my opinion.

Since our claims match each other, I have some requests.
1. I want to have a cliff bank on the river. However that cliff could or should run along your claim and the eastern bank of your river.
BTW: I believe most of the TR exterior modders don't like steep terrains. You cover them with rocks and/or cliffs.
2. I have noticed there are some big rocks along the eastern border and the eastern bank. Could you remove a few of them and use lesser big rocks? You could also resize a few rocks and maybe add a few more trees.

Thanks Blackbird. I will try my best to comply with your requests. I will add more trees on the eastern side and resize the bigger rocks, however I'm not quite sure about the cliff banks as I've never done anything like this yet. So I have to put cliffs at the eastern bank to cover the steep terrain? And they shouldn't be at the western bank at all? If so, I'll do it and upload a new version soon so that you can see it and tell me if it's up to your likings.

You don't have too add a cliff at the western bank. It's your choice, but please don't add one near the border with my claim.

For future reference, there's no need to post a new file so often; the only time it is really necessary is when you have done major work, or when someone needs a newer version for border matching, etc.

On that note, I have deleted a few of your older files to conserve space and cut down on confusion and general clutter.

I had the time to finally finish 4-40 today. I hope it's up to our standards. Use file number #1 please.

This needs 2 interiors btw:

1. A bandit cave (-11/-17)

2. A dwemer ruin (-12/-15). However, it is important that the entrance is a trap door because the main entrance is blocked up.

TESAME: Clean

Fits exterior: Yes

Northmarker set: Yes
Loading errors: No

Review: Few aesthetic issues, mainly that I don't think your roads aren't really sunken. Generally roads are made to look sunken to appear more natural. However I've seen non-sunken roads before and I think you did a good job of using the surrounding terrain to give it that appearance most places so I'm going to let that go. You need to sink your rock clusters more, a lot of them float partially. Also there was some jagged terrain here and there.

Comments Not too bad from a design perspective. It looks good overall, just tidy up those errors next time to make it look really good.
