Very very nice.

I'll form more of an opinion (not that you need it) once I see the textures, but right now, a concern for me is that it does appear a bit 'Star Wars-y', and quite reminiscent of their Jedi Temple Coruscant designs.

But with the right textures, it'll be awesome! :)


EDIT: Also, surely that'll be hell to make an int for?

Hmm... at that size I think it's taller than the Firewatch Tower, which I think is as tall as we're willing to go with Morrowind.

uh... isn't OE castle larger than firewatch tower? I sort of figured it would be but I never really checked... seems like OE castle should be taller... meh...

Since when there were four gods? I think the back of the building should have only one tower so it makes three + the middle one.

The ancient Velothi cult was ancestor cult. It did have seven gods, though: the Three Good Daedra and the Four Corners of the House of Troubles.

I'd agree with a triangular shape only because it would result in a house that doesn't have four corners, not because of a symbolic need for three. The Tribunal's obsession with the number three came with the Tribunal itself, after the War of the First Council.

In fact, I'd do away with angles altogether and do something round. A circular wall, with a domed tower in the middle. The Velothi sure did love their domes. The bridge is a very good idea, given the symbolism of bridges as junctions and passageways. Stairs outside the outer walls to climb to the temple's level, then a bridge to go from the wall to the temple -- very good IMO.

I think you're doing well. Go with your model. Make the entrance larger to scale down the rest, scale down the heigt of the towers and maybe make them a bit more round. The square base is good, you don't have to change it either.

The square base is slightly 'lore breaking', in that Four in a square could be seen as the Four Corners of the House of Trobules. Not a particularly good reference for the biggest Tribunal Temple. :P

If a 'not four sided' variant could be made easily, it'd be a big improvement lore-wise.

Looks beautiful. I can imagine how inspiring this could be when rearing up above the tombs and crypts of necrom, with mourning ordinators standing guard at the gate.

For lore reasons I would suggest making it circular with three "spokes" at 120 degrees to each other.

Really great work though :)

OMG, BC. Many Hlaalu hoUses are built on rectangular bases. All Vivek districts are squares. And even Vivek lives in a square based building, OH MY GOOOOODNESS! What an awful REFERENCE!

The Necrom Temple is "Not" a Tribunal temple if what I've read about it is true.

I think it should look very different from the tribunal temples

Yeah, it's older than the Tribunal. It's the Velothi Temple of the Dead, the Chimer Necropolis, the Ancestors' Sacred Home, the Gah'cardruhn.

It's beautiful, but

the logical extension of what Gez said is that this temple absolutely should not look like Almalexia's temple. Its in a style from a completely different time period and completely unrelated to this Temple.

As to what BC said about the Troubles, it's complete rubbish. To quote Nabisi, "even the Four Corners of the House of Troubles rose to protect the periphery of your madness."

Hmm. The arch over the entrance still looks small, which makes the whole construction too big. That's just an easy to be changed detail though :)

If no one will scream that something's wrong during the next 24 hours, you are going to be rewarded with a big OK.

P.S. Mesh detail seems to be on Morrowind level now. Though, feel free to add a bit more. And don't forget to give it a bit of vertex paint! :)

It's really hard to tell anything about the mesh from a screenshot. It looks good, but it does appear to have a lot of highpoly areas. What were you aiming for in terms of poly count?

Actually I don't know what the poly count is yet ..

I like to model with slines & I will convert it after I've got the basic layout done.

I will keep the poly's at a reasonable level.

Should probably email him. I saw him some times ago mentioning on Bethsoft's forums he was busy meshing the Necrom Temple, but he doesn't check our own forums often.

Revoking. It isn't a hard job. Suggested way to go: Take the shape design from what Darknut made (Sorry, we don't have the mesh :( ) and put our Necrom textures on it. Add some vertex shading and tada, done!

Does anyone know when this can be done? I don't mean to sound bothersome, but I'm starting to fear this mesh will be the bottleneck that slows Necrom down.

I want to start working at the Temple District, but first I'd need a general idea about the shape. Has this been decided? As well as a size estimate so I can start working on the areas around it.

As well, is this really tough? I have no modelling experience what-so-ever, but if nobody volunteers, I might have a go at it. I would need some resource tutorials to get started though.

Just a suggestion.

So you are using that model from aro.
It seems (very) tall for me, but I think that model will be pretty. How will you do the interior? Creating another mesh or using the necrom interior pieces and make an interior like the temple of mournhold.

There was no necrom temple mesh by Aro until yesterday :P

I'll give you a wip file. Use it however you want. I'll be away for at least 10 days now. It's still a piece of shit, but I think it keeps the right scale and it is close in shape to the final mesh.

Texturing done, mesh done (4k). File uploaded above. Needs vertex shading, possibly some texture changes. Actually you could put this already into the tr_data. It is far better in quality than many other necrom stuff up there.

Should I make an interior too? If yes I need lore or smth like that.

Perhaps a room for the top of the building and the rest could be done with the current necrom tile set. Liek the temple of Almalexia in MH.
