Vertex shading, dear exterior modders - read this

Post by Nemon »

Seeing that vertex mismatching is one of the common errors reported from our landscapes, read this and forever avoid this problem occurring again:

When vertex painting with the landscape tool, make sure to save these values to the color presets.

Non-snowy exteriors:

Texture transitions
Roads

121,121,121

Statics
68,61,53

Snowy exteriors:

Texture transitions
147,147,147

Roads
121,121,121

Statics
105,105,105

...kept here for historic reference:
Shamelessly quoted from TF:

A grey shade (121, 121, 121) around texture transitions and roads, a brown greyish shade (68, 61, 53) around statics, although not smeared all over the place. Use it gently.

And by me, for colder stuff:

For snow and statics: Texture transitions 147 147 147, roads 121 121 121 and around statics 105 105 105.

And use it for even the smaller statics, remember a vertex click isn't definite. It can be softened.

I'm assuming this doesn't count for the work I've done/am doing on A3, as it currently matches A2/A4West. But for new stuff, good! :)

best part: that shameless quote from me is a shameless quote from either Sload or you Nemon (I think). I know I am not adept enough at exterior modding to think those up

For the record, Nemon should maybe list these in bold and in a slightly more list-like format for easy reference.

Yeah, that's what I meant. And it was Nemon who originally said that.

Also, you now have a [/b] at the end of your post Nemon, looking awkward.
