Road between Roa Dyr and Othrensis

Post by Yeti »

This is something that really needs to get taken cared of before work on this section can move forward. We need a road between Rao Dyr and Othrensis passing through the mountains, along with general border matching. I've included a map below to jump start work on this, even though it looks like crap. :v

Are there any other changes to this border zone that need to be made? Do we want to keep the WG rocks?

Yes for the road. It's important conceptually as it provides a road for traffic to pass to Almalexia.

Regional things? I'm fine with AI, though I don't really care so long as it's not WG. It's important to distinguish that this seperates two distinct river valleys though, so perhaps someting other than AI. (My personal opinion on the Alt Orethan is to build it in a new set, but that's not relevant to the discussion at hand, nor is the time to discuss).

For the mountain range, how about a foyada? The new player starts in Teyn, crosses through the TRV and to Almalexia, would naturally use this path. Think about that small patch of Foyada Mamaea that the player crosses before reaching Balmora.I like the idea that we mirror that on the mainland, giving newbs a taste of what's to come when they reach Vvardenfell.

Take it with a grain of salt though because the part of the master plan that defines how we set up regions is still up in the air. Probably not the best place to bring this up either way.

A fodyada would only work if there was a massive source of flowing lava nearby that could have created it in ancient times. There's a reason why many of the major vanilla ones lead to Red Mountain, and the others were in similarly volcanic areas.

Yeah I know. Isn't that thing at the top east of OE a volcano though? Albeit a small one. That was what I was running off from. One could even say pre-floor pre-Inner Sea that this foyada was an extension of the foyada that runs down through Molag Amur. Probably a bit of a stretch. Idk, it doesn't really matter to me, just so long as it's cool and interesting and actually allows us to distinguish the two valleys that it seperates.

This is why I personally want to work more on the Master Plan before trying to decide things like this. If we're gunning for a quick release though, I suppose just replacing with AI will work for now.

Seems a little too far away. Adding a foyada here doesn't justify making massive changes farther north, imo.

Also, that complete overhead shot is freaking amazing, even if it does highlight the insane amount of work we have left to do (both creating new areas and reworking older ones).

Perhaps we could extend the stripe of rocky Ashlands southward?

The path already exists in the m3a6-part of this area. See this picture, yellow cirlce around path, dotted for required continuation in m3a3.
