I used blender for the model, i was more or less just trying to get a foot in the door. It is severly lacking in detail i can admit to that. Unfortunately i am not very good with textures as you can tell. I'll try something related to architechture.

I use Blender V-2.46
It supports every type of picture that I have uploaded into it. Which ones don't work is a good question but I doubt you will have trouble. For modeling purposes:
.dds
.tga
are both supported.

This sounds alot like a game called "Golden Sun" I don't know if any of you have played a gameboy advance, but I remeber going to a town full of petrified villagers, doing some ridiculous quest, and coming back to sleep in the inn and progress with the main story. Its a good quest idea tho...

It has a normal map, but what it doesnt have is tanget space data? I'll try out what you have suggested.
I am also interested in the interior department which I which i would be qualified for. I'll append the interior i worked on today to this post.

The light problem!

You need a normal map. It is denoted by a _n.dds or _n.tga It can have the same name as the partner texture. Ex: Wood.dds //Picture on the mesh.
