I'm not sure if Not's post was meant to come across that way, but it did sound a bit hostile. I just chalked it up to the difficulties inherent in conveying tone in text format. I'd give it the benefit of the doubt, at least.

I'm not entirely sure where this mummies idea even came from, since my suggestion involved ancestor spirits and I didn't see anyone else mentioning something similar. Maybe I missed a post? I don't have any problem with whatever solution, though it does seem like this is a very controversial decisio...

Hardly any Telvanni will be interested in discussing "a new riverstrider port, which smith has failed to obtain his proper permits, which guar herder has not paid his taxes in over a decade, which new village should be granted a charter or who should take over as deputy treasury secretary.&quo...

As for real world examples of mummified leaders taking an active role, there actually are some, believe it or not. I am no expert on mummification, but I do know of at least two examples off the top of my head. Some pre-Inca tribes in the Andean mountains were known to take the remains of their lead...

[spoiler]On Mouths getting mind-wiped: the way that discussion went is that some Mouths might be mind-wiped, but certainly not all of them. That being said, mind-wiping people is not at all out of character for Telvanni: while the Telvanni are very individualistic, they take a very might makes righ...

-snip- This makes sense. I still think it would be possible to find one faction that could be kept relatively localized to the eastern end of Morrowind. (Yes, Telvanni makes the most sense due to their more insular nature, Indoril also could work once you finish the Indoril areas which are mostly c...

I just want to clarify that I never said I thought vampires were cliche. That was another poster. I did mention that avoiding the vampire angle would eliminate the possible perception of cliche, but I was not intending to say that I myself perceived it that way. I'm open to the idea of the Dres Coun...

Their deal was not with Bal at all. Even if their deal was with another daedric prince or with the Hist or WHOEVER, (I don't think I entirely even "get" this idea despite reading over this thread) my question still remains; why can't they make a deal to learn the necessary rituals to sust...

snip As to the "Dres are Necromancers" angle, they may not be godlike wizards like the Telvanni, true. However, if the Dres can strike a Faustian bargain with Molag Bal to become vampires, why couldn't they strike a deal with another daedric prince (Hermaeus Mora, Vaermina, etc.) to learn...

Simply because the Dunmer at large revile necromancers doesn't mean that the Dres council couldn't be using necromancy (or it's cousin, ancestor worship) to sustain themselves. There are always exceptions to the rule, this would obviously be a closely kept secret and we have a rumored example of a p...

Not only would this not sit well with anyone at all, let alone a fiercely individualistic society such as the Telvanni (and Dunmeri society as a whole). I'd hesitate to call the Dunmer individualistic outside of Hlaalu and Telvanni. Their culture reeks of putting tradition over the ambition of indi...

I just registered today, obviously my opinion is not worth too much, but I really felt the need to chime in here. Something I have noticed when reading this thread is that it seems like some of this is perhaps being "over-thought", if you will. We already have satisfactory explanations for...
