In the original thread, someone mentioned a book about it. Wouldn't it be possible to script the book so that once you tell a certain person about how you uncovered their scam, that book appears in that particular person's home, written by that particular person?

It's a very nice idea, but Uldar is right. The time would be better spent making the world first, and then adding mild realisms to it once it's finished.
