The Empire worships dragons (part of it's Akaviri influenced culture) and is offering the very few surviving dragons of Nirn refuge. Dragons used to be all over the place, but they were
- driven to extinction by cliffracers and skylamps in Morrowind
- annihilated in a terrible war in Akavir (though recently, one of the betmer races there has developed into "cat-dragons")
- died in several other, smaller incidents, until only very few, in the service of the Emperor, were left.
What precisely those dragons do there is not clear; in TESA:Battlespire, there was a dead dragon (and a dead human) who died alongside in battle; some lore books mention dragons in a generall manner, and then, there're supposedly Imperial dragonrider units.
So, there are dragons, but nowhere near the part of Tamriel where TR's current mod is made.
Maybe a dragon will be in TES4, though. After all, it is supposedly located in Cyrodiil, the empire's heartland. If there're no dragons, where else could they be?

From TIL:
Why are there no dragons in Morrowind?
Skylamps. They would actually be, moretheless, the Cliffracers. In short, the cliffracers came to Vvardenfell and pushed the dragons out. At one time, dragons flourished in Vvardenfell, being drawn to the comfort of the warmth in Red Mountain. The cliffracers grew in numbers (just as they appear to do in MW, since they seem to pop up behind you every 8 seconds). At first, this was not a problem for dragons. They were actually pretty good eating. But, just as a praying mantis is a big king of bugs, 1000 ants can easily take him. Thus, the dragons found themselves in a losing battle over the territory. Food sources and dwellings became overrun and the dragons simply packed their bags and moved on. The cliffracers plagued Red Mountain and in the end, drove the dragons out.
Some say the dragons moved on closer to Cyrodil, where they gained shelter and security from the Empire, along with dragons from other parts of Tamriel. Dragons are very sacred to the Empire, and as long as the Empire protects the dragons, the dragons MUST offer services to the Empire, such as aiding and protecting the Imperial forces in war (Redguard, the fight for Stros M'kai).
Just a little "in the know" for those who are curious about dragons. They DO exist, just not everywhere. Even in Cyrodil, where the majority of dragons may be, they are scarcely seen. Could it be they can shapeshift and use human form?

i sorta kinda liked that the elder scrolls had the originality of not cramming dragons into their games.
i just feel they're over-used in some sense.
but an original dragon is never bad tho, that would indeed be cool.
was i the only one to get to see that one and only daedra dragon in daggerfall, when youre doing that one quest when you're being attacked by seducers all day long? well anyway...he was big and green and inside a living room. it was sweeet.
and ofcourse...the notorious dragonlings...oh lordy lord.
but i digress.
oogi woogi.

Maurtini, I could not agree more, there are all these games that are called something cheesy like dragonstone, or dragonsword dragonpower, or something like that
But if imperiels worship them, how did skylamps and cliffracers kill them off?

I cannot believe this thread has more than two posts in it. It should have gone something like this.

Bam! Done deal, noob conquered, next thread.TR member wrote:Read the FAQ and you'll realize that you're not the first person to have considered this. There are literally hundreds of threads in which the inclusion of dragons has been mentioned and refuted with lore evidence. Use the search button and read the information lists provided before asking these questions. Stalker might just explode.

I don't know why you're telling me to cool down; that was a relatively nice way for me to handle this situation. It seems that in my absence you guys have really become too suceptible to spammers, noob comments, laziness, and all around stupidity. And even you are guilty! TIL has literally all amassed lore on MW and is being updated constantly with new info from OBV. Of course it has stuff on Dragons in Tamriel - it has all the evidence we've been using to state why they're only in Cyrodiil. Instead of posting the same questions over and over, go read it yourself and learn something. Once you have some basic lore knowledge, you'll understand how frustrating it is to see people ask these things day in and day out.Timito wrote:Cool down stumpy.
Are there any books in TIL about dragons by the way?
And don't start that 'cool down' stuff. I'm still being nice.
