I was thinking that daedra worshipers might carry small, flat rocks with daedric runes carved into them.
This would be only for religious purposes, and wouldn't be magic.
I don't imagine it to be many of them, actually they should be quite rare.
Maybe worth 100 - 500 gp each.
If this is stupid/idiotic/anti-lore, please shoot me...

if the one who make the meshes dont want to make the texture i could make it ill do alot of different runes(they could represent a different letter each?)

Question(s) - what religious purpose would they have? And, would they be mined, and then inscribed? Or would they just go and find some ordinary rock and inscribe the rune on it?

Perhaps pieces of Ebony. And perhaps they could have the same technique as Daedric weapons, with the souls of Daedra or whatever used to forge them. This would cause them to be even rarer, as the practice is no longer continued, and not many would have been made. Perhaps the rune would have a red letter as a symbol of the blood of that daedra, and the letter being the first in his/her name.

I think it's a brilliant idea. The same way a Christian may carry a crucifix on a keychain or on a necklace, or a Buddhist may carry a small stone figure of Buddha, why shouldn't the people of Tamriel carry religious icons that have no "real" purpose? Small pieces of stone inscribed with Daedric letters would be perfect.

I like it, and I think you should include something similar to the shelves for ash statues in 6th house sites in daedric shrines with these rocks in them

Also, you don't need one for every letter you might be able to just have the name or initial of the daedrtic god that the cultust worships like A for Azura or M for molag bal, and then if the contained daedra souls, they would contain the souls of each daedra gods servents, like the soul of a winged twilight in each Azura stone

Cool, Maybe they could have pictograms of the stuff you see on their banners (the ones with corprus meat on them) they are like a compact and more concealable version of the ash statue

Quite.

Anyway, I don't see a point in making (or adding, if already made) all Daedric runes. Just one for each Daedric Lord, each belonging to unique cults. This way, you'd know which cult you'd be dealing with if you find one and it won't just be random Daedric runes without any further significance. I think these could be well combined with the new idea on joinable Daedric cults.

Otherwise, the idea is rather good.

Could we possibly see cult wars between followers of different daedra gods, where allies and enemies can be IDed based on which cult's rocks they carry

That would kind of cut down on secrecy a bit... Daedric worship is still frowned upon, right ?(

How about if cult members have one letter each from lets say Mehrunes Dagon and get together once a year the 20th of Sun's Dusk to summon him without using a shrine?

This could probably work out with Daedra gods that is without a shrine or it is to distant like Hircines worshiper.

(Just toying around with the idea of the amulets actualy being of some ritual use)

I like the idea. would be fitting for the leaders of daedric worshipers to have some sort of icon.

*take note. creating new lore like this is fine, it makes logical sense without stretching or breaking anything definite lore wise and adds depth to the world.

Runes have to do with written scripts, a sigil is a sign, in this context runes would be considered a type of sigil.

From a strict definition, runes only refer to the written characters of a few RL languages, but for the purposes of TR daedric characters are considered runes. This idea of a rune being a small stone with a script in it is likely a Diablo 2 polution. I actually think it would be more appropriate for these to be called sigils in game.

first thing first. I suggest this should be descussed as someting inside the "joinebal daedric cults".

I think its a good idea. and if it's not suggested before, I suggest there should be diffrent "rune stones" for each diffrent cult.(you know... Maybe a tooth for Hircine, and maybe a crystal for Azura...)

And, I they should be scripted with something like; "Do you want to pray to azura now?", "yes", "no". If player is a loyal cultist, he/she might get a blessing. If player have forexample stolen the "rune stone", he/she might get a curse.

What do you think?

Might I suggest you work on the things that are stopping the daedric cults from being accepted before you go too far with the cult idea?

i see your point, Garriath, but the mayor thing that stands between the daedric cults from being a dream to be reality is the other guilds. I think Guilds like thievs/mage/fighters guild should be done before the daedric cults.

I just try to keep all the daedric discoussions together.
