4-40 Progress (Apollo Project)

Post by Feored »

Just couldn't resist :D

So here's were I'll post any news about claim 4-40 positioned in the center of map 4.

Kothloth suggested no forts/inhabited settlements whatsoever. So be it.
I'll go for rather thick vegetation and some daedric ruins in the woods on the eastern mountain flanks and ruins hidden in the mountains.
We'll see.

Here's the dwemer ruin and some other shots. I put it on top of the mountainchain.
Little gimmic: the main entrance is crumbled, but I added a hidden hatch in the valley nearby. Maybe that can be scripted so not every passerby enterns the ruin without a quest.
Since there are large towns nearby an egg-mine in the eastern foothills should do just fine.
For the thick forests I mixed up AI, WG, and GL trees, mostly WG/GL, looks fine.

Here you are, kingfish(and everyone else who shares a border with 4-40).
Have a look and post a comment. I haven't done much work on the notheastern border, so feel free to fit it to your claim.

if you don't mind, i've changed your northern border a bit, so that it fits with my claim [4-2] as well as with claim 4-34.
here is the changed version:

Ok, good to hear from you. Please say something a bit more often, since 14 days + and I might end up thinking about revoking the claim ;)

Progress:
landheight: done
rocks: 95 %
flora: 90 %
textures: 90 %
vertex shading: 75 %

So far so good.
Anyway, it seems like I won't be able to finish the claim, as I'm leaving for an extended stay in France on the first of april. I'll post the latest version of 4-40 before I leave.

well, what I do is copy one particular type of rock over and over again, and repeating the process with other rock types until it all fills in. it takes a long time, but making a claim was never suppsoed to be a breeze. :-P

Rocks usually don't take a lot of time for me. I simply mark all (or most) of the rocks in the statics list, drag them into the render screen, quickly places them at empty locations and repeat. And don't forget to use the models with the groups of rocks

Sorry, folks! I somehow didn't manage the upload.
Just don't revoke this claim if don't hear anything from me in a while. The claim is almost doe and I'm pretty sattisfied with the outcome. The only problem is that now I'm stuck at a french university with hords of pretty french girls distracting me, and no internet-access where I can use my USB-stick anywhere to be found.
I'll see what I can do about that, and the french girl of course.

I just submitted 4-40

Post by Feored »

Greetings again.
I invested some time in vertex-shading and placing plant in the rather empty eastern plains, and finally I felt well enough about the outcome to submit the claim.
