For me, thus far, Consantine

Then why are you posting?
Constantine was good, although I wasn't shocked to see that Keanu's acting hasn't improved past "wooden plank" level. How does he get work? He must be blowing someone really important.
"Ong-Bak: The Thai Warrior" was the best one I saw so far. It's nice to see that bone-breaking martial arts movies haven't given way to 3-hour philosophical toilet-movies.
"Hail Dexter."

La Mala Educacion is the best film I've seen this year, but it has been a rather bad year so far...

A few that I liked, but I'm not sure I can say which I liked best. Some of the movies I liked the most, however, were as follows: House of Flying Daggers, Kinsey, and Y Tu Mama Tambien (older movie, but I saw it for the first time recently).

the big lebowski, most cohen bros. movies, anything by tarantino, and the matrix trilogy (minus the third one, that reeked of suck).

For movies last year (I havent seen a film at theaters in ages), I would have to say I liked collateral the most. all the others were god-damned disturbingly awful (alexander, the grudge).

Of all time, for me:

King Arthur (New one),
The 13th Warrior,
Troy,
Gladiator,
Braveheart,
Alexander,
LOTR 1-3,
Road to Perdition (I know it doesn't fit with the others).
(I am ashamed to admit) The Lion King

Can't wait for that Kingdom of Heaven (May 6) one or the Hitch-Hikers guide to the Galaxy (April 29).

Here are the trailors for those.

None yet, though I'm hoping the best movie of 2005 will be the new Star Wars %) I've seen one that sucks big time though - Hide & Seek. As I said in that review on IMDB I never posted, Hollywood at its worst. What kind of "intelligent" thriller this is if I guessed the whole plot from the second take (the first one being due to lousy camerwork focusing on an extremely minor character)? Anybody likes the new term "Thriller flick"?

To End All Wars was a pretty good one, pretty humbling too. I suggest you search around for it if you can.

Not that it isn't sick, but I thought it to be very accurate and well-acted (even if I did have to cover poor little-(name withheld)'s eyes. My friends and I went to see it together and one my friends' (cough.dumb.cough) mom made us bring his 12 year old brother, and since this particular friend is also dumb, I had to be the parental guidance. Scary, huh.

Lately most movies haven't been to exceptional. The thrillers have really blown, they must be running out of ideas because they seem to be the same crap that looks better. I've never liked sci-fi's either, well, guess that means i'm just kind of an anti movie person

It's sick because it was supposed to be a movie about Alexander the Great, not Alexander the Gay. I don't have anything against homosexuality, but hey, it was supposed to be a movie about his life, not a cheap piece of megalomaniac that is basically the phrase "Look! Alexander was gay!" wrapped into movie form. Had they named it "Alexander the Gay" or even "Teh mind-bogleng storie of gay conqeror lol" it would be reasonable. But they didn't and it's not.

Trust me, if there was a Hamlet made that focused on Horatio's subtle gay characteristics, it would be slated in the same way. Its the American way - or so I hear.

Changing the subject back to movies, I loved Aladin, cried of joy before the gladiator and also fell of my seat when I saw the last samurai. The Kill Bill's are also amazing, I absolutely must see pulp fiction, and of course the LOTR 2 and 3, the first one was good, but just not as good as the two others.

But many historians believe Alexander was gay, so depicting him as gay was telling the story of his life (at least as seen by some historians). There were many problems with the movie Alexander but him being gay was not one of them.

Yeah, I know, but it was presented as a movie about Alexander's life, not about his homosexuality. And it was the latter. However you put it, Alexander was conqueror that was gay, not a gay that was conqueror.
I say again, the should have made a movie, that focused on his whole life, not just his homosexuality.

Guys guys, this isn't a discussion on Alexander and his sexual preferences. This is a discussion on good movies you've seen.

Um, yeah, I got carried away again, sorry.
On the topic, though: I'm going to see "Turetskii Gambit" today - they've been running the trailer in all theaters and on TV for at least two weeks. Looks promising. If not something spectacular, it will have some nice eye candy. Although I'd be delighted to see a high-budget Russian movie with something more than just special effects and famous faces (especially the latter - I'm tired of seeing the same people everywhere :\ ).

I saw "Der Untergang" already in Autumn (living in Switzerland sometimes has its advantages  ). It is a great film, especially Bruno Ganz as Adolf Hitler. From what I heard he was nominated for best actor.

Constantine. Actually, I think its the only movie that I have seen in 2005...

Just a point, the movie was pretty mild by comparison to the real story. Alexander was a bye-sexual, not a homosexual. However, he was, disturbingly enough, a pedifilist.

Anywho, back to movies.

Actually I believe it was never proven he was gay, he slept with woman as well didn't he? so that makes him bisexual rigth? Anyway correct me if I'm wrong, but being gay or bisexul was very normal for that time period.

How can a gay conquer the lands that Alex did?
And how can a man, who can have any hot chick he desires, be gay?
I mean, I was on my way to puke when I saw that.
Plus it was historically inaccurate. Very inaccurate.
Anyway, what I saw and liked a LOT was 'Π'.
In english it's 'P' and the director is Aronowski (Requiem for a Dream).
Amazing, purely amazing.
But my favorite ones would be the Matrix Trilogy, Pulp Fiction, Hero, the Last Samurai, Romeo Must Die and the Indiana Jones movies.
And I liked Lion King, best Disney movie ever.
