Here, a picture of a dagger I made about 1/2 hour ago. If it's good enough, I'll make it available for download. Though I expect people to say the blade texture needs work. This is just an Alpha/Beta thingy.

Nice, though the ruby bothers me for some reason. I'm not sure why.

Make sure to make the blade longer, and of course a nicer texture.

No reflective material, ewww. Keep it just a little bright and make the texture as real as possible. Daggers usually aren't as fancy as swords, so they usually aren't refelctive, but they usually do have a little shine to them. Here is a good reference pic.

Hmm...I might as well just bring back the original silver texture and hue/saturate it a bit then. Ugh........I donlike trying to make my own, completely new textures. I usually fail.

Why don't you like the gem?
And some daggers are MUCH fancier than swords I(daedric, ebony, etc).
And another thing, I CAN'T make the blade longer. I don't own 3ds.

Yes but I think daedric and ebony weapons are stupid. But that's just because I hate fantasy based weapons. As for the texture, it was just a suggestion, do whatever you like. 8) I can't figure out why the gem bothers me, it could be because it's too big and too dark. It looks ok, it just bothers me for some reason.

Oh, I'll take a few suggestions. But look at your silver dagger. It has a little silver ball thing on the pommel. I just recolored that ball. Have you EVER looked carefully at any weapons ingame?

I do agree with you about the ebony, though. Who MINES ebony? Goddammit...now I'm all pissed off about the extreme romanticism of Morrowind...

Meh, at least they have their own fantasy metals/materials in addition to mithril and whatnot.

At any rate, I think I know what seems odd about that jewel...

What happens when you put something red next to something reflective?

Might I suggest changing the blade texture, at the moment it looks too much like slate or some other stone.

I like it too. Change the blade texture to show that it is a blade. You know, add that line in the center (look at all other blades to see what I mean).

and as for the gem, do you like blue better? Or is the red preferable?

a) Making a blade longer = modifiying a mesh

Yes but most daggers are longer than that! Assuming that handle fits your hand about perfectly, that means that you only have about 3-4 inches for the blade. Most daggers are at least six.

Nice work. I think you should make it so you can duel-wield them(a weak combination, but it would look nice).Or make them able to be wielded with a sword as well, i always love the sword/dagger combo. But then again, I am rambling like an idiot.

Actual dual-wielding is impossible with the Morrowind engine. Yes, you can have one as a shield, but you cannot FIGHT with two weapons.

Ebony is a fairly expensive, and very strong usually very dark wood. Why not mine it if you can make a lot of money? Anyways, Elder Scrolls did what they did with lots of other stuff, make it better...stronger and more expensive.

Sorry, der gottlose, for spamming up this thread...

I will say the daggers look really good, but one thing I find a little off is the tarnish on the blades. On the blue one it looks ok but the red one is just a little too red in my opinion. I am not sure which program you are using to manipulate the textures, so I can't offer up any specific advice on how to accomplish this but I would try making it a little more brown (rust like). Maybe try desaturating the blue one a bit too.
