Would Like to Help Out
I'd like to help out in this dept. I've been working on a few sound fx, they sound really wacked out. If I could get some help or pointers, it would mean a lot to me. I'll post a few here. But I must warn you, they are kind of freaky I've posted a different one in the remaining sound fx topic.

Here's a new one. I made it for usage such as passing through exteriors. I'll let you decide what you think of it.

the low-frequency hum in these sounds can be avoided by using a better microphone, or if you cant afford one, try to use a low-cut filter and cut off the lower frequency range from 60hz and downward (50hz if you're in a 220V country); that should help a lot with the hum. you can also use a noise gate to automatically cut off the signal during silent passages; this eliminates a lot of noise as well.
both Logic Audio and Cubase have EQs, low-cut filters, high-pass filters and noise gates built-in as VST effects.
