Well seeing as it says MESH REQUEST at the top, that is what I assumed. However there is no clear indication of what he wants meshed; just a few scratched textures. If it had been so clear to me as it apparently was to you, I wouldn't have asked the question.Amrod the Bard wrote:Meshes vernon, meshes :)

Also, to make something look worn you don't need new meshes, so I understand what you said now vernon.Vernon wrote:Well seeing as it says MESH REQUEST at the top, that is what I assumed. All you need to do is add some worn effects to existing texures and voila, you got yourself a worn chair or table. I think even I could do that. scrathes are easiest, I think stains and stuff arent that hard either so. maybe ill give it a try.
He's doing a rich house, Starcrunch. I don't know why it needs to be worn, there was no specific mention of worn furniture. Though it would just be a simple alteration of the original texture for some de_r furniture, it's unnecessary.
Then again, we could use it in other homes and buildings.

Well, I believe his claim is either an old woman who is the last of a guard family or the last ordinator family, either way they have antiques of the good old days.
Yes, I think having a worn texture of rich furniture would be good to use in some cells. I don't think it would take to long either.

An easy way to find textures is to find the mesh name, look it up on your TESCS CD, then open it with NifTexture (on the main page under utilities). The textures used by the mesh will be listed. Also, you can use the attached utility to make copies of the existing textures and mesh so that you may retexture without the hassle of fiddling with files so much.

Note how it seems duplicated. I've seen a nice tut about seemless textures somewhere though.

The only thing is, it doesn't look so much like wear and tear over the years. It looks more like a bear has attacked it. If the wear was around the edges and more like scuffs rather than scratches, it would be more true to the request. However that was pretty damn quick and the marks do look quite realistic.
welp
Well here is an update, you will still see the pattern repeat, but its better. the only way to complete remove this or partially is by making the texture large, so that it covers the entire tabletop.
EDIT: I didnt refresh so I did not read vernons post until after I posted this.
@ vernon, I will try and make it look worn by age/use, not by an attacking bear.

Only problem is that the mesh is copied alot, not just twice. So wed need to resize the mesh, probally to 512x512 or maybe even 1024x1024 .Jale wrote:Well if you had a table that scarred you might use a tablecloth.
Maybe if we put one right in the middle it would make it less obvious and thus more realistic. Something perhaps square at a 45 degree angle to the sides so its in the middle...
EDIT: well its proving to be quite tough (to make it look more realistic), I will continue this later, maybe vernon wants to give a try at it? or are you busy with other projects?
Yeah, I understand that, but i thought morrowind only display images with pixel dimensions that are multiples of 2? (ie 1,2,4,8,16,32 etc).Vernon wrote:<moved to textures>
I'm pretty busy with some other stuff right now. I will see if I get a spare minute. The problem is that the top of the table needs a 1*1 map, so that there is only one texture on top. btw the texture is good, it just doesn't sound like the texture requested.
Since the table top isnt 1024 (too small) and definatly not 2048 (too big). we'd then need to make a new table mesh.

Well there isn't much point in retexturing a de_p table to be old and worn, as it starts out as old and worn. You should just use the origional texture if you want to use the de_p mesh shape. If you want a fancy table that is now old and worn, you should retexture a de_r table, but probably cut down on the number of scratches.
