I don't think you can, they are always listed in order of last modified.

I often find that to be a problem to TrevorDemented.
I usually don't use larger lists of .esp's
I use folders. and usually just cut and paste if I need something. Easier to keep track that way.
If you don't bother with your past history. How do you know where your currently at? It's past what makes us who we are. And who we will be. Ignoring that, is ignoring who we are and where we're going.

When you play MW and select the Data Files to include, they are loaded in the order in which they appear in the list. So if two esps overlap (such as both changing an area or interior or an NPC), the last one loaded is used. The order is determined by the date the esp file was last modified.

Anyway, if you really, really, really, really want to have the esps in alphabetical order, do this:

Let's say you have four esps to arrange: Arrow.esp, Dragons.esp, Giants.esp and Wonders.esp.

To make them alphabetical, change the date on your PC to a date earlier than any of the modified dates on the esps. Then using TESCS, load and activate Arrow.esp. Then save Arrow.esp. Then change the date on the PC to one day/week later. Using TESCS, load and activiate Dragons.esp. Then save it. Change the date on the PC again (one day/week later). Load and activate Giants.esp. Then save it. Change the date again, load and make active Wonders.esp. Then save it.

After this, when you look at the Data Files list, the esps will be in alphabetical (and date modified) order.

Or you can load up Arrow in TESCS, modify the Author or Info box (adding a space or a return or deleting one will do) and save the file. PRESTO - you've modified the file and have a new date! Do this with each file you want to put in order.
