Map 3 Crack Down!

Post by Noirgrim »

Noirgrim's back, back again, tell a friend...

The Noirgrim of old is back, meaning I'v got my whip and exterior modders are going to be feeling it.

Anyone with a claim on map 3 is going to be pushed hard to get those claims completed. Map 3 should have been finished long ago. With the almost completion of map 2 interiors, map 3 exteriors are next on the list, and should be crossed off the list SOON!!!

Any map 3 modder that does not show significant progress on their claim will have their claim revoked. Many of you have had years to work on them, and I hope you've had great fun doing them, but the time has come to finish them up. Watch an hour less TV a day, stay up an hour later, do what it takes to finish off our 4th MAP! (after maps 1,2,and 5)

These are glorious times, and goal is in sight, let's make it a reality.

I think that as we release a full map 1 version in one package and with installer etc many more people will get interrested and work on other maps goes faster then....

Maybe... but no. They'll get done faster anyway.

Ah summer vacation, how I pine for those long carefree hours in my youth with absolutely nothing to do...... :D

I'll take a map 3 claim IF someone can tell me how to get it to work. What I've downloaded so far seems more bug ridden than 'Joe's Apartment' and instantly crashes my game. This is the crap I keep getting:

Matching IDs: TR_VO_cooked_ornada

TR_Map1v61.esp: type Container
TR_map3v3.esp: type Misc Item

BTW Hi L.N. *wink* ;)

Map 1 is not compatible with the other maps at this time. This issue will be fixed in the future. It may also help to download tghe latest version of map1 as v61 is rather old (the current version is 76). You may want to wait though as a new version will be out soon I beleive.

Noir, why did you revoke my claim? I do work on it. 3-36. Working on a different take on daedric ruins as is. That takes some time to look even remotely decent.

Thanks. :)

I'm getting there, btw. when I think it's at least somewhat like I want it to be, I'll post screenies in the claim thread.

Mine are on their way, one is with Cjad for finishing and the other is about 90% done before I ship it off to Cjad. He may be gone next week sometime or something so please don't shoot us.

Noir is only cracking down of Exterior claims. If you have an interior, this does not apply to you.

Oh good, but it is really a moot point because I will be done mine very shortly anyway.

Cool. Now tell me what I should do about the necessary OOT files I need to run the map that keep causing this:

Matching IDs: TR_VO_cooked_ornada

OoT_creatures.esp: type Container
TR_map3v1.esp: type Misc Item

You see, map 1 isn't the problem. Even the older version I'm running is compatible with the OOT files AND map 2. In fact the only material from TR that has caused me any grief IS map 3. I'm no sleuth but the deductive powers of the most inept gumshoe would reason that with all of this, the problem lies in map 3. Thanks for trying though bud. :D

EDIT: BTW please, where do I get the current version map1 v1.76 from?

So if the maps aren't compatible how come I play regularily in Maps 1,2,3,5?

*Shrugs* Beats me. As soon as I figure that out, maybe you can help me figure out why I can't run it. :P

And it's not just the other maps it's choking on as you can see in my above post, it's the OOT files as well. Those excerpts in bold print are directly from my Morrowind warning document in the Morrowind folder. Any time I run map 3 I get a CTD. I suppose one could argue that it may be other mods I'm running but I'm disinclined to believe that as it should show up in the warning log as well. When I have time this weekend I will back up my Morrwind files and reinstall using JUST map 3. Cross your fingers and wish me luck, I'll tell you how it goes.

Xui'Al, do you have the latest version of Map 3? People other than Athame have been talking about errors, and I'm inclined to believe them, especially since 3-16 always had a lot of errors for me before it was merged.

Hmm, its not all that updated, and since I generally play Telvanni types I never have any reason to go there. Since it runs, I am not planning on updating until there is a playable, w/ interiors version of Mournhold/Almalexia.

How cool is that? *mwaha*

I'll tell you what, instead of staking a claim maybe I can roll up my sleeves and try to root out these bugs this weekend. It will probably require some renaming of object ID's in map 3 so instead of the ID reading: TR_VO_cooked_ornada, I'll change it to: TR_VO_cooked_ornada_01 or something. I'll also clean out the 914 GMST entries I found and save the cleaned plug. Just tell me who to upload the fruit of my labors to as this will be the first thing I ever did for TR other than complain and troll the boards.

I know this is sort of off-topic, but I have a whole list of bugs from Map 1v76, but I am not entirely sure on how to post them according to the format in the FAQ thingy. Its the location (X,Y) that causes the probelms, can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thank you, I pm'd him (her?) with my proposition. The pm is in my outbox waiting to be sent. I presume this means that his mailbox is too full to deliver the missive?

The maps are currently not compatible. You cannot load them all up at the same time, nor do you need to be able to do so to work on your claim (except perhaps to border match). This is being fixed and has to do with the maps being made before OoT was put togeather. They will be standardized before the final release.

Currently the only Map that is in beta testing is map1. The other maps largely exist so you can work on claims.

Roger that.

The only problem is that I still actually play Morrowind. I suppose if I want to work on a map 3 claim, I'll just have to reinstall and create a configuration/ environment specific to map 3. Then if I want to play I'll just have to reload my play settings/ mods. This all gets really confusing really fast. ?(

If what you say is true, then any attempt on my part to debug the plug will be fruitless, redundant and unappreciated. :(

Back on subject. There are two map 3 exterior claims that need to be claimed. If you want to mod an exterior, these are for you.

I kind of like having you back to normal, with your whip and all... I just spent 4 hours finishing my 6-15(6-42), sometimes we all just need a kick in the spotted owl.

If you have an exterior claim on map 3, you must post progress weekly. If anyone reading this talks to an exterior modder of map 3, please motivate them to continue work and update us on their progress. Anyone not posting progress every week will be asked nicely to updated or else regrettably have their claim revoked. Map 3 has been in the works for too many years.
