Important plant info

Post by Sniper4 »

After reading "The Real Barenziah", I learned that the black rose is supposed to be a common flower in Morrowind. Therefore, I believe that this must be considered when building Morrowind. Thank you for reading this.

I don't remember what volume it was in. I'm sure it was either 2 or 3 though. You can find the book at Jobasha's Rare Books in Vivec City.

Is that a flower found in the 'Tribunal Expasion'?

I have information about Morrowind's plantlife...

Post by Sniper4 »

Here is the info from "The Real Barenziah Volume IV":

"But it was also rich with the spicey sweet smell of the late- blooming black rose, which was native to Morrowind and grew in every shadowy nook and crevice of its highlands, finding nourishment even in the stoniest banks and ridges."

I believe someone should make this and give this item to all Tamriel Rebuilt Modders.

Well, I'm going to get off the internet now. If you have anything else to ask about the black rose, please send me a private message, because my e-mail won't receive it.

I have a flower done (ingrediant item) and will begin work on at least 2 plants tonight (containers). I'm making the flower itself an very very deep red so it looks almost black. Was there any indication weather or not the rose has thorns?

it depends on the species of rose...

I have the models ready, these are a thornless variety. perhaps we can recolor then add thorns for another rose species in cyrodill or some such place

remember to cut and paste the address into the browser.

Have we decided to use the black roses then?

The link provided to download them in the previous post no longer seems functional...

If it's in the Real Barenziah, then we should use it certainly.

Yay! I'll use it in my 4-20 claim and Almalexia! From what I know, the Black rose can inhabit any environment? Or is it confined to Molag Amur and West Gash (I hope not)?

I placed a couple of black roses in 4-20, below trees and overhanging rocks. Currently, there are four spots of them - 25 plants total.

Has anyone an idea how to create random items, to add the proper ingredients to them?

Veet's readme says (btw nice model!):

"As mentioned breifly in morrowind lore the black rose which suposedly crops up like a weed everywhere there is shadow in the province of morrowind yet strangely is nowhere to be found on Vvardenfell. "

So I guess you can use it anywhere you want.

There is however one important matter we need to agree on first before using it in any of our claims: What will the ID(s) in the editor be for this plant??? We should use all the same ID(s) (allthough an id can be easilly renamed afterwards).

PS: and the magical properties of the ingredient!

..And there's still the matter of downloading this alleged flower. Is it on Veet's webpage, or anywhere it can be downloaded? Or should I just relax and cool it?

I used flora_TR_blackrose_01 (and ... _02), which makes sense IMHO. I haven't thought of the magical properties, but since it is suppoed to have a rich, sweet odour and grows only in shadows, how about raise peronality and invisibility?

An ID should always start with TR (easy grouping) so TR_flora_blackrose_01 would be much better :) .

Fortify personality and invisibility sounds good. But I think each ingredient has four effects, not? Maybe some negative side-effects like blind? or damage or drain something?

4 effects? Doesn't the small kwarma egg ahve only two?
Hmmm. Guess four's better than two, anyway. The effects should, of course, reflect the flower's nature and it's emotional implications, I think.

So, here's a second try:

- raise Personality
- drain Fatigue
- Poison
- Invisibility

:edit: I'll change the name. It's better along the guidelines like that. :end edit:

Maybe Veet could add a small plugin with the flower already created? That way everybody uses the exact same properties and ID's...

I cannot at the moment work in TESCS due to an unfortunate accident with my PS2 Port (see the thread "oh no" in the tavern for details) Therefore I cannot make this mod untill I fix my little problem....however I'm not opposed to any one else using the NIFs and making the mod. Perhaps hand them over to OOT as well....

Two very important questions, the name and spelling of the plant.

Will we use for the container

"Black Rose"
"Blackrose"
"Black rose"

and will the ingredient share the same name or be,

"Black Rose Petals"
"Blackrose Petal"
"Blackrose stalk"

You see where I am going with this can't you?

Once we have all the definative info I could create an FAQ thread for it.
