Sword and a kama

Post by Animunculi »

I drew up some concept and started modelling a new set of weapons. Here is what I have got so far:
Concept

Long sword
Hilt
Ingame
Ingame1
Ingame2
The textures are VERY basic, though I spent ages on them. I still have a lot to learn of Paintshop. So what do you think?

Edit: I changed the title to something more informative and posted pictures of a kama I recently modeled in Max 5. Also I started working on the old sword again.

I think it could use some more color variation, so we can actually see the texture; it's a little too dark as is.

Apart from that, though, it's a nice model. Good job.

I usually have my monitor brightness at 100, so maybe that is why it seems a bit dark to you.
Try turning up your monitor's brightness to see them better.
How do the blade textures look? I tried making them look more metallic but I think it didn't turn out so well as I expected.
The hilt texture is combined from silver longswords grip, a texture of daedric door and daedric metal texture. I tried to find a suitable emblem from the stock textures, but I couldn't find any. Any ideas about that?

Constructive criticism is more than welcome!

I think he means you should actually brighten the textures themselves. 100% monitor brightness sounds like a lot. :) I try to calibrate my monitor once a week. Go to Windows Control Panel, find the 'Adobe Gamma' applet that comes with Photoshop and go through the onscreen instructions. That should give you good monitor settings, and keeps things standard between various texture artists.

Nice model, anyway.

I used the gamma correction function of Paintshop Pro and this and also that is what I got. Is it better?

I suggest you contact the maker of "Dun akafell" and start writing a quest for that sword right away, nothing über, but a desent sword that truly fits that enviroment!
Works in Progress:
i4-17-Red ; The Fine Clothiere
i4-16-Red ; The Bachelor Pad

Grate idea, but...

-the model need some major improvment, like most player created weapons, the model is lacking detail.

-as they said, the texture needs to have some color variations, somthing that will hilight a detail somewere, wich in turn, will brighten the overall look of the weapon/s.

-Need to start posting Quest ideas, or at least have people start sujesting quests allready in the making.

I recently modeled a kama for Morrowind. Here are some pictures:

Max render
I am using the stock textures for it right now, but before I try to improve them, could anyone say if kamas are lore-wise?

Btw: I have also started working on the sword again and could anyone tell me where are all of TR's stances?
