Indeed it's alive again. It tends to be a bit spammy at some times, but that's the fate of most IRC channels. I would encourage members to visit it once in a while, there's some productivity there and it was the 'base of action' during the server downtime.

Yeah, and we're moderating it since some fools decide to spam in the middle of a productive discussion, so if you can't speak in the channel, /query an op in the channel to add a voice on you.

you should make a sticky topic in the tavern or in the lounge with a link to mirc and an easy walkthrough how to use it. I don't understand a thing of it. I can't log in without help....

I was setting up a new account for a customer, and apache 2 decided to make it the default for all websites, I am sure it couldn't have been 13 minutes, more like 3 minutes.

Here:

In the first bar, out 'quakenet' or whatever server you use. In the second bar, put your server address, Massalinie can help you with this. In bars 3,4, & 5, just put your desired screenname.

With trillian you just type in the little box at the bottom and then you press "Enter" and it sends your message.

Press ctrl+s and select Quakenet and choose a server, click ok. It will connect to the server, or if it doesnt, you can try again with a different server.

Once connected type /join #tamriel

You can continue using mIRC after it starts asking you to register. Just wait a few seconds after it's been loaded up, and then it will let you click the "Continue" button. I've been using it for a year or two now. Simple as that.

I'm guessing that's Trillian?

I think what you did was "join #tamriel" instead of "/join #tamriel"

but I'm not really sure...

Is there any way to use IRC without installing an IRC client?
I use the college computers to go online most of the time and they are configured so that nothing can be installed on them.
If anybody has a solution I would be very grateful and will give them my conscience (I never use it anyway)

There are Java clients on the web somewhere. I forget exactly where. Try searching for Java IRC clients. I think they just jump out in a popup and it works from there.

I found one called CBIRC, and set the server to irc.quakenet.eu.org and the channel to #tamriel. I just get crap like this though:

i'ts only a suggestion, nothing more. what if TR's site would include a java irc client where those members could use the chat who can't download or not allowed to use irc. there are some free scrpits (i mean source codes) on the web which could be useful. i post this, because i can't join quakenet if i'm not home and now that my computer doesn't works, i can't join the channel. at least for a while..

Regardless of what program I use, I can't seem to connect to the server.

Trillian gives me the following message:
Trillian wrote:Error while connecting (Error Code: 10053). Disconnecting.
I searched, and couldn't find what that error code means on Trillian's website, so I tried other programs...

HydraIRC's error message wasn't much more helpful...

XChat told me that it couldn't connect due to software on my system, which was at least somewhat helpful...

So... just to test it, I disabled my firewall, seeing as that's the only program I could think that would be interferring; still no luck, and the same errors were given. Any ideas?
