Quest Creation might be your thing
Like being creative? Like full control? wanna make a name for yourself?
We are currently looking for people to make quests, as there is a shortage of questmakers currently. I know what some of you might think, I dont know how to quest make, and all that scripting looks like jibberish.
Actually quest making can be quite easy, once you learn where to look for help. I am currently providing a little tutoring for people who would like to learn how to make quests. PM me for more information.

Hmm.... This sounds like something I've wanted to do, but i have no idea how to create my own quests. My CS thingy is fighting with me, but I have a lot of ideas for quests. And the quests could be different for each race. Maybe. But this project sounds like fun. I wish my scanner would work, I'd like to upload some of the pictures I've drawn and will draw of structures. Also, is it possible for a Dwenmer spirit to exist? It would be cool to get a quest from a Dwenmer spirit, and find out a lot about them.

I'll create some quests, I'm a decent scripter and I've worked a little with dialog. Tell me what needs to be done for quests along with a .esp of the place that I am going to be making quests in, I won't like it if I can't do things in sequence and I'll have to go back and redo dialog and scripts because I don't have object IDs or locations.

the questing process around here is fairly simple.
If you want to write your own quest, create a proposal (you can see many similar ones in the forum) in the quest plots forum
If you simply want to make a quest that was plotted already by someone else, go to the quest plot forum and see which quests are claimable. If you find one you like, create a thread in the quest claiming forum with the appropriate subject line asking for granting.

I'm keen to start on quest creation. I've done the pot-plant senario, read the rather long morrowind scripting for dummies, and now I would like to get to work on a real world quest.
Are there any quest senarios that are not too complex (after all I'm still new to this!) but have easily testable deliverables for training purposes? (i.e. a simple fedex quest?)
In addition, can I submit such work for review? I don't want to start with a real quest but just something small that someone with real scripting experience can look over.
Many thanks,
lamaslany

Welcome to me!
I'd like to say a cheery hello to each and every one of you modders, scripters, writers, builders and of course, the admin. I'm happy to help out in quest writing and have already begun writing quests for this.
For those who want another team member in their area, let me know. I'm more than happy to help out.
Remember: It's writing and making quests, not scripting, building or anything else!

that would be awesome
i would like to learn to make quest but im not very experinced with the tes construction set.
I have minimal experience in making quests and scripting. If someone can help me on the technical side of things I can put my creativity to good use. Are we talking Great House quests? Guilds? Is there some kind of checklist you guys have to figure out what has been done and what needs doing?
Please PM me if you would like me to help.

Re: Quest Creation might be your thing
I would like to participate in the quest-making. I'm not good at artistic skills or designing, but I like making up stories. I also made some scenarios to Warcraft II, III and Starcraft.Majra wrote:Like being creative? Like full control? wanna make a name for yourself?

Excellent! Feel free to post your ideas in Quests: Ideas where they will be developed into full plots and then created into quests. The main difference between quests for this and quests for Warcraft or Starcraft (other than lore, ofcourse) is that the player is only 1 character and that the game engine can't take very many NPCs at a time (6 or 7 at most, ideally).
Welcome to TR.

I like your spirit. If you're not an arithmatephobe, you can learn scripting! I think it's the easiest part of TES modding, but that's probably because I'm a math geek.
Here's Scripting For Dummies, a file that is incredibly incredibly useful in learning to script: http://www.quicenter.com/morrowind/files/Morrowind_Scripting_for_Dummies_8.pdf#search='morrowind%20scripting%20for%20dummies%208'
However, if you find that scripting just isn't your thing, there are other things you can do. We need people to write the ideas for quests to, because what's a questmaker without an idea? Feel free to post them in Quests: Ideas.

We always welcome fresh ideas, unfortunately some people refuse to develop them further. They just post a vague product of quick brainstorming and after first questions or criticism by other members they toss them away and make another post.
We would rather see one well worked out idea then ten shallow.
Give your idea a thought, think of lore and of what other people do for TR and try to match your work on theirs. Do not be afraid to face criticism, answer questions, argue your case and develop your idea if required.
This way your ideas have much bigger chance to survive and be implemented.

Um... I'm new here, but I've been looking around for a few months. I know I could be good at quest making. Also, I'm taking C++ in school right now, so maybe that would be important? I can make any kind of quest, just ask. As soon as I figure out MW scripting, I'm sure I can do anything.
Why are you reading this?
