-Names
Nitro Centurion
Gyro Satchel (Centurion)
Explosive dwemer shuttle

Drone Centurion?
Scarab Centurion?

Dammit! Now I know how hard it is to come up with a name, and the only ones I came up with are ones suggested by other people already! Though to be honest, I like these more than other peoples. I feel the name needs two words to work. The first describes its' dominant feature / shape like other Dwemer robots. The second is "Centurion"
<insert witty signature here. i might spend time trying to come up with something, but its not like anybody reads these anyway>

A Centurion was a commander of 100 men.

Sappers. According to the wikipedia, sappers are demolition experts and diggers. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sapper for the full explaination.

I still like Sapper, but I also like Boreblower or Boreblaster. Centurion should not be included, imo, as like I said, a Centurion should be in a leadership role. But then again, the ES Centurions certainly didn't appear to lead at all - indeed, one could find several centurions in 1 place. Meh...

I think it should be called a Saibot Centurion. :D

...Or a Dwemer GyroBomber.

Yes, and moreso, because these explodos are passive, unlike the centurions we see in-game.

But obviously not the dwemer centurions. We don't know much about the dwemer, but I'm sure they built their centurions as servants, not as masters.

Of course, it's probable that their names aren't dwemer names anyway, just how the creatures have been called by the dunmer. Maybe someone read an old book speaking about the dreaded and deadly dwemer centurions and their unbreakable armor, and thought that centurion, then, referred to these brass constructs, rather than to elite military sergeants.

(Anyway, given the Cyrodiil's roman theme, "centurion" and "decurion" should be used by them, not by the dwemer, if it was used as an actual military ranking.)

So, if we assume that the use of centurion to name dwemer construct is simply because of cluelessness and force of habit, then a name like Drone Centurion is perfectly acceptable and consistant with the rest.

Don't think zeppelin would really fit. First they're not balloons, then zeppelins are named after Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin. It'd would be like naming them Montgolfier Centurions, Ader Centurions, Wright Centurions, or Sikorsky Centurions...

In a dwemer context centurion is pretty much used in the context of 'sentinel'.

I'd just like to mention that I thought "Centurion" meant "Dwemer Robot thing!" and also that the "Spider Centurion" is less complicated than this, and even if it is hostile. I suggest Petard Centurion now.

Keep in mind, the average player probably won't know what "Petard" means, and they'll end up mistaking it for another, very similiar word ;)

And then go 'OMFG THEY HAVE DWEMER RETARDS AND THEY CANT EVEN SPELL THEM RIGHT!' on the forums and be exposed for the morons they are when a player who owns a copy of a dictionary and has the initiative to look it up corrects them.

HA HA HA!!!!

Well, we cant really use bomber, because a bomber would pertain to it dropping the bombs, not kamikaze...
THAT'S IT!
Dwemer Kamikaze :P (forgive spelling)
Kamikaze centurion

though, those two names go back to the previouse argument about how the centurians are named from looks, and not what they do.

and as far as not naming it centurian,..what dwemer bot is in the origanol Morrowind that does NOT have centurion in it's name?

Um, this "unnamed" dwemer mech is actually not a military bot at all... the very first post says that it drops explodos onto the ground which, with a big bang, removes a helluva lot of dirt so that MINERS can more easily tunnel for resources (trust the Dwemer to think of that!). Centurions in Morrowind are ALL military bots. Nuff said.

It looks (to me) like a scarab beetle. How about a Dwemer Scarab?

Except that there are no non-"military" bots in the original game so we don't know if Centurion refers to a "military" bot. Infact, I wouldn't even consider them military, necessarily. I bet the spider was some kind of pet that attacks you because it's master is gone, and the Sphere Centurion was just a robot friend that went senial.

*cough* what's-his-name in the corprusarium had bot-legs... does that count as a non-military bot? Or just a wheelchair (legchair)?

EDIT: I can feel this thread being closed at this rate... What do we have so far for names? Seems everyone's keen on having Centurion in there somewhere - at least it's lore-friendly I guess... How about Centurion Blaster?

I really like Boreblaster - it has character, like Explodo did, but it actually describes its purpose and sounds pretty good, I reckon.

I believe Vernon was asking for favourites. Boreblaster is my favourite. Is Dwemer Miner Drone your favourite Sload? If it is, then we have:

1)Boreblaster
2)Dwemer Miner Drone

I don't think we're meant to come up with any more suggestions . But I am quite often wrong in these things :) Anyway, if it isn't Dwemeri, it won't get picked. Simple.

If individual people have several favorites, this won't ever wrap.

Though I'm just a noob waiting for my first claim to be accepted or rejected, I'll give my useless opinion and say I still like "Drone Centurion" over the others.

(And it wasn't just my pet idea, either, Nomadic1 defended it too!)
