I was wondering if we could blend Complete Morrowind, Complete Doors and Locks, The Essentials of Morrowind, The Tempist Fugit Ring and some of the other great immersion-related mods into a sinlge bolt on for downloading. I run many of these mods and am VERY anal about the ones I use. I have tested several mods together and can assist in the compilation of some of them if need.
Also, I think a texure mod would be a great thing. I have overwritten the otiginal textures with some revamped textures and have them to very beautiful and realistic and think that this would make a great bolt-on as well. Let me know what you think.

I like the Idea. I've thought for a while that some of the listed mods, especially complete morrowind, should be included in TR. Since I'm currently homeless, I can't do anything with it, but once I get settled in, I'd like to help if I can.

I'm not really familiar with those mods, but it seems to me like it would be too much work, for too little gain. We've got to complete what we've got going on right now before we can even consider this, IMO.

Well PoHa! you may be correct about it being too much work or at least seeming as such so let me reiderate and lessen the idea. Let's just start with graphics.
Now for you purists out there...this is a modding community so what are you doing here? For all you modders, what say we browse Morrowind Summit and other such sites and locate the best land, building and sky textures we can find. I know I have the best known Imperial textures that are out there. I have some Hllalu and Velothi tex's as well. I also have some creature tex's that "spiffy up" all the monsters. I propose that we test, agree then package the best texture package we can make and make it available for download. I, for one, refuse to play TES III without my textures and Better Bodies and so on, because of the great things they do for immersion. If you havn't tried this then you have no idea what you're missing out on.
So what do you all think of putting a texure package together?

The easiest to integrate are Abot's clever script-based mods, “Where Are The Birds Going?†and “Water Lifeâ€Â.
All one would have to do to turn them into TR boltons is editting them to add in the TR beasties (like cephalopods to Waterlife).
The other immersive mods I use, Cait Farm* and Children of Morrowind, do not use automatic placement through scripts (it would be much harder to do) and so would require painstaking efforts to be extended to the mainland.
* And Pegas Ranch too. Fie on that "no normal animals can live in Vvardenfell just because we didn't want to model them so we'll pretend that the dunmer eat them all to extinction" nonsense!

I'll say one thing - it is too much work for too little gain. If you want to have a texture replacer - go and get it. Why the heck do we need to host it here ?
Oh and about this:

You probably meant "Good to see you again". In that case - thank you. Same to you actually. It's always cool to see old faces again. If you want I can actually provide you with your Lord Enlil account info. The Sentinel wrote:Blunt as ever....lol. Good to you again Stalker.
I use a texture replacer myself. I actually doubt anybody who actually plays MW is not using them. The problem is that there are millions of them around (especially Hlaalu ones) and you can't just choose the best among them. It all depends on personal preference.Well I thought we would host it here for those who know nothing about texture replacers. They do wonders for the game. I really don't think it's that much work, I found mine in like 20 minutes and packed them together.

Yeah, that's what I meant.
Well I would love to have my old account back. My email is the_sentinel@comcast.net.
Yeah there are quite a few good texture packs ones, I'll go with your discrection on this one.
As far the original idea, I'll pack a few of the "can't-live-without" mods together and see what you all think.

You who have not used texture replacers are missing out on a great deal. The change in clarity and realism with the texture replacements is indescribable. I highly recommend swallowing the urge to be a purist (if that is the case) and give a try...you will not be dissapointed.

You mean something like this ? That you just don't want to spend time filtering all that non-lore bright shit released every second on ESF.

I haven't seen texture replacers that really convinced me. They looked all too weird, or too childish, or too clean to be real.
Like those, for example. Beautiful? Yes. But far too clean! They doesn't look real, and as a result, it reinforces the repetitive aspect of textures. Look at those tiles, they remind me of ray-traced pics from the mid-90's, with all these perfect checkerboards with teacups and marbles and reflections aplenty.

I couldn't agree more to getting those really important mods down for TR, but it all depends on what "important" is defined as. Different gamers have different plugins installed. I'd just recommend keeping it down to a minimum of about three (modular) plugins, each one being the a popular mod that just wouldn't work right with TR. That pretty much narrows it down to:
1.) any hunger/thirst mod (I use Necessities of Morrowind, which actually has a great compatibility plugin that would make TR integration a whole lot simpler. I'm not sure though if it conflicts with lore, what with adding corn and eggs and all),
2.) "Complete doors and locks", and
3.) "Complete Morrowind".
And what's with all this discussion about texture mods? I agree with you, Gez--all those crappy mods are just...er, well, crappy!

I agree with Sload and Gez on the texture replacers - truly hideous. Might I just add my two cents to this: if you want other mods to work with TR, know that there will be a lot of work ahead for you. The majority of our members are working on the core of the project and need I point out things like this are a needless distraction that just hinders progress.
Having said that, we do have this bolt-ons forum where you can work on compatibility and integration. Just keep in mind that you'll need to take a lot of the workload on yourself. If these things were of high importance to us, don't you think we'd have done them ourselves?
ps Complete Morrowind has been discussed numerous times before.

This thread has some interesting points, and what we could quite easily do with these mods is add them to our Recomended list. If people wish to do this, then set up a poll thread for each, and if it gets the votes, then it gets in. Any threads set up in this way must include an atachment or a direct download link.
