A TR Favicon file?
As you know, http://tamriel-rebuilt.org/favicon.ico is a 404 error.
But wouldn't it be nice to have a small favicon for our site?
So I took PoHa!'s ingenious "single-letter TR" combination (from the logo competition thread) and turned it into a favicon. It was in my opinion the only design simple enough to still be meaningful once reduced to the 16×16 or 32×32 format of favicons. It's attached below, in compressed .rar format (can't attach .ico files).
I humbly propose it to the site's admin, if they want to use it. (If they don't, well, nevermind.)
If you have other ideas for favicons, or have a bias against them for whatever reason, say so!

Yes it is. When you go on a website and it has a special little icon that appears on its tab and next to its URL bar, then it has a favicon.ico file. You can see it by going to www.randomsite.extension/favicon.ico.
For example, here's the favicon for my junk webspace: [img]http://gez117.free.fr/favicon.ico[/img]. Now when you browse my (a silly idea, since there's nothing of interest), you'll see it wherever you go.

Hmm... if that's all there is to it, then something must have been done wrong, somewhere. I don't see it either under Favorites or next to the url in the address bar. The first link works now, but its kinda small (obviously), doesn't look like TR, IMO.
If there's a way to fix it, and you can make it better from the original .psd, I can send it or upload it.

It would probably be better if it were darker.
But for me, it works. Try going to http://www.tamriel-rebuilt.org/ in a first time... That's what it took to get my browser to peek around.
I can't use a .psd file (don't think the GIMP can open them), but a transparent .gif version could be useful for making a new version.
Making an icon file is rather easy, though. Grab a program like [url=http://www.bouffler.freeserve.co.uk/icon_edit.htm]this one[/url] (freeware), import your image in it and there you go. You need a 32×32 and a 16×16 version of your icon, in 16 or 256 colors, for it to work.
You can provide more versions if you want, but they must all be in the same file. For example, you can have three size (16², 32², and 48²), all in two depths (16 colors and 256 colors) for a total of six icons in the same file. The browser will use whatever's the most appropriate.

I don't see any favicon with my mozilla either...
For a favicon to work properly with any browser, I think you have to add the following line of code to te head section of the html code:

I know this topic is old, but now that I've got Firefox and can actually see the favicon, I thought I'd use my rarely used Necromatic powers, and post the original file. Perhaps someone can improve upon the current one with it? I would, but I've currently got little time to do so.
