Resadyn's Weird Creatiure

Post by Resadyn »

I really have no idea this creature I made should be named, or where it should like in Morrowind

Vote in the poll for where, post your opinion for name.

Distort the central ball, and add another, also distorted, as a back body .... and it could be some sort of spider.

But Mind the Moratorium!

For now, I'm sleeping in my lightless city beneath the waves.

But someday ... I will be back.

The horns make it look as it's from oblivion (a.k.a. a daedra)

I think maybe add a little fur and roughen it up (make it look less like a pokemon) then slap in packs on mountain sides, living in little holes like likkle shrews... or summing...
If I wanted lip from you I'd unzip my pants.

Woohooo my first claim made and it's Telvanni, somewhat. I'm a real, rompin, half crazy, egocentric, 2000 year old, mushroom livin' cat slaver. :D

I'm not sure how i could add fur in milkshape, but i did what Hermit asked and changed the body around. I cant texture for crap so if someone else wants to do that jsut ask.

What do you mean by distotrting the ball?

distorting the ball = not so round

Edit: you could give it wings, shorten the horns, another set of legs and it could be a giant moth, you could find it in the forest at night and if possible give it a script so it would follow lights, make it none hostile (so it won't randomly attack you) so you could lure them around with a torch/lantern.
that would be so cool to have a whole heck of those lil' buggers following you around!

First off, great model.

However, part of what I've always loved about Morrowind is how unique everything appears, and, no offense intended, the horns on the creature are very cliche. Consider changing their position, substituting them for something else, or something similar. Oh, and what if it had some sort of stinger in the back? That'd make it fairly intimidating, methinks.

It almost looks like a spider/beetle with two sets of legs... extra creepy! Why not give it a crown of smaller horns? and perhaps more eyes?

As for where it would live, how about caves, where they could crawl all over the walls? Or perhaps make it a burrower, grabbing at the players legs when they walk over a nest?
P.S. Please don't make handbags, wallets, belts or shoes out of Orix

Replacing the horns with antennas would probably add to the moth-looking appearance.

Also those wings look rather... solid as it is, and as if they're turned 180 degrees in the wrong direction. Must say I love the thought of a giant moth with 3-4 pair of wings though. Perhaps an extra pair of eyes?

Import one of bethesda's models into your program and take a look at how it was made. View it from the wireframe perspective, and try and make your model look similar. I'd wager that your model structures are completely different and that you may learn a lot by checking out other models :)

You've got more detail, which is good..but perhaps try and make it look more realistic. Right now it look like a series of blocks joined together. Try and make them all blend together. Like I mentioned before, take a look at bethesda's models for inspiration.

I've read and reread Stalker's announcement, and I can't find anything that grants this model an exception to the rule. Why are you working on it? It won't be reviewed and won't be included so you'd be doing more for TR by writing an essay about the cultural impact of the Gates in Central Park.

I'm not trying to be rude, but you've posted in the thread. Twice in this thread you've been reminded of the rules. I don't understand what's going on.

http://www.shortcourses.com/editing/moth.jpg

thats what i ment for a moth, oh and i found a loop hole.
I WILL MAKE A QUEST!!!!
If i make a quest that involves a new model to be made, it will be included into Oot.
so i will make a quest, in X forest there have been reports of strange flying insects, a nerby Telvani has become intrested with these specimens and asks you to lure back 6 of them to his house without being damaged in any way so he may examine them. he says that there have been rumors that they are atrached to light, so he gives you a bug lamp to lure them back with.
when you return with them he says that you have done well and he rewards you with a spell of light so you may collect more of them. a week later if you return you will find him no where in sight and his house eaten away by the moths.

Just an idea if you want them included.

I can write the quest, but unfotunatly someone else would have to claim it once i wrote it because i'm not that great at scripting or dialouge but i'm sure someone would be happy to actualy make the quest with all the talented people we have at TR.

People can work on whatever they want to work on. It may not make it into OoT, but it will be here for others. I'm just glad that Resadyn has decided to take on modelling. Its not easy to learn.

take away tail, make fellers longer facing more forward and a bit straighter, leg smaller, less eyes(smaller two), make wings longer closer together oh and if you can make a texture close to that moths colour. and make all the legs come off the first sphere.
also it will look WAY better when it has a texture.

First of all I do encourage people to model creatures. Moratorium or no moratorium all meshes are to go to OoT forums.

looks great oh and for the animation wouldn't it be cool if it just hopped around at first but if you went near it with a light it would start flying and follow you.
once again, looks great. :D

Yes, that would be cool, but unfortuantly i dont think milkshape can export animation so someone with a different program would have to get it and animate for me. Vernon?

Moon Moth
Televani Moon moth
Daedric potatoe
Forest Bettle
Forest Moth
Moon Bettle
Tasty with a bit of scrambled kawana egg

some names
also you might to tweak it abit more to make it look just right.

If you want to make it more of a bettle look at this for reference, http://www.richard-seaman.com/Wallpaper/Nature/Beetles/GreyValleyOfFireBeetle.jpg

If you want to make it more of a moth look at this for reference, http://www.uksafari.com/jpeg2/gydaggr1.jpg
or this for open wings http://www.ento.csiro.au/aicn/images/cain3445.jpg

that one would come in very handy for flying animation.
also remember that both the bettle and moth have two sets of wings one below and one above, and that wen closed they meet in the middle you shouln't be able to see there backs
also if you are going to do the moth remember that it has a body that is thin (second pic for ref).

if this is going to be included into Oot through the loop hole of the quest it has to be at a good standard.
but still i think its great at the moment just fix it up abit before it gets animation done on it. also i nearly forgot it looks a bit wierd without a mouth.
