I've been playing Iron Kingoms lately... Table top RPG, I love the melding of Fantasy/Magic/Steam Technology... All you would realy need is the mesh, and the train would serve as a means of transportation. Think is dues to the Morrowind engine the trqain ould have to be all under ground...

if the dwemer had a subway, I doubt it would still work. However, it might make a good static.

It could look pretty interesting... A rusting locamotive sitting forgotten in some Dwemer station...

Ok, so your sub bolt on (or hopefully soon to be)got me thinking and i think that a Dwemer Train system would be really really cool. Only thing is that if you wanted to do it correctly, you would have to add a ton of interiors to the actual game and some complicated way of finding it so that you could explain why it wasnt found before (sorta like the end of the dwarves thing in the game). As far as it not working, I could see that it would because a lot of the ruins in the game and the tribunal quests show that dwemer technology still runs after ages. Most of them are lava/steam powered anyway. I think the idea would be wasted on just putting in a warp system from point A to point B. Lore wise...hmm. Thats a tuffy because of all the other crap in the game that would be seemingly impossible but the dwarves did it. I think that as far as the direct lore goes, Bethesda hasnt mentioned it so it would be a no but as a bolt on...kick ass if its done right. Id even help with some little danky stations if it was given an okay to start and you still wanted to do it.
As for the aub it's on the list... Who knows... Well as for a train, lets see. We would need to use the same script as on the sub, that way time would pass during travel so it would not be a war per say.
Meshes would be a pain in the ass, however if done right they could look very good. And you must admit, exploring for dwarven ruins does not appear to be a to priority among the imperials.
