Nice drawing, Lute! My favorite part is the bracers and the alternate pauldron on the corner.
I don't think that Redguard warriors would take well to wearing overall-type armor, with fancy pieces sticking to and fro, however, like those legpieces. It seems a bit too gaudy imho. But great sketch overall

I agree with haplo. Redgaurds seem to be a practicle, earthy people. The armor, especialy those tendrills off the legs, looks very alien.

I agree it isn't very practical, yet I love the fashion of the design, it would make for very beautiful armor, if only ceremonial, or palace guard, used by those who only need light armor in order to protect their leader.

Inspired anew by Stalker's thread this morning, I've got a few recent beasties for Hammerfell's countryside

A natural herd-grazer, the Yoba makes it's annual migrations in massive groups, some spanning in the thousands. The Yoba traverse across the plains, as there is much low-lying vegetation for kilometers. Whatever vegetation (primarily grasses and soil-roots) they don't trample on, they consume. They are docile, but can be provoked to defence very easily. The mammal is best known for it's sloping, rounded head and single-toed "hooves"

A prime example of parallel evolution, the so'kii is mammal, not avian. The sleek, black pelt is highly prized, considering the agility and flight makes it a hard catch.

Not the best plant to take a picture with. This carnivorous, and highly active Koku'daa uses it's star-fish like head to ensare prey with it's whip-like "tongues". The rubbery, sticky teeth then pull the victim inward, which it then immediately digests it. Any target too large will be latched onto, and given a large secretion of stomach acids, to which it's mucus-lined mouth can withstand.

to be most certain, his phylum (although most, if not all, went extinct) was built for speed, him being practicly the only herbavore. It doesn't go to waste, as the Yoba can travel and quite a good pace, and compete with local predators in bursts of agility. 600 pounds of yoba can be pretty daunting
Especialy in the desert (although he could live elsewhere) his ffet would sink in the sand. Thats why camels have big feet that spread out when flatened.

The feet do dig into the ground quite a bit, the same way any Ruminant is known to.
http://www.cs.princeton.edu/gfx/proj/sugcon/models/cow.png
keep in mind, a Jersey cow weighs between 700 and 1,000 lbs, 100-400 pounds heavier than the Yoba. It's hard to tell what size these Yoba are by the image, but they have a considerably lower center of gravity than the bovine.
On a different note, I tried my hands at architecture, but came out with an indescript town instead.

Aye, it's probably the first time (ever) I've spent thought putting different design into each building (although most of them are the same style in diff directions).
Tava, the bird god. Just a little design for future reference (statues, ect.)

Oh. I always figured that the Redgaurd would have 2 styles of statues- one traditional (very primative and African) and modern that would look more artsy like this one. It has a distinct look.

your right about the wings, I was arguing to myself about it, but I'm sure making them look like chinese cloud-style would be cooler, and more understandable.
example
before I get started replacing the wings, here's my concept of Tu'whacca, the tricky god, and caretaker of the far shores.

Lutemoth, I must say these sketches are marvelous. Your sketches (especially the god ones) are not stereotypical or boring. These idols have a kind of outlandish, alien style which I absolutely adore.
They remind me very much of Polynesian cultures, the only cultural background (along with aboriginal styles) that has not yet really been discovered and imitated in games. (The old Populous series would be somewhat the only games which I know contain some of these elements.) Personally, I am a great fan of this culture and its images and in particular, the masks. (All I can say is to continue working with those!) I think this is a very good direction to go, to give a kind of uniqueness to early Redguard and Yokudan culture. A culture with these Polynesian/Pacific looks in an environment where you would nbot expect it.
The image of Tu'whacca is very good too in my opinion. Depicting him as a a kind of divine boatsman is a very good idea. Tu'whacca's mask has some skull elements, I see, but the right amount to not make it too obvious. The boat itself -with legs underneath it- is very alien concept but at the same time very original and very fitting for a mythic setting.

Thankee very much, Adanorcil! I'm very honored by your intriguingly perceptive analysis of my body o' work
I'm not sure how many I'll do of these, but here'll be some of the more easier things for me to accomplish: Ugly little things!

often, in horrid skirmishes on the physical plane, rather than waste mind and time on a corporeal form, it is much easier to project an avatar amongst lesser daedra and dictate hence. The daedra's face is sealed to further boost the Daedric lord's tact and control.
cultists proclaim that his excellency sits in the host's belly, and "looks out as far as he can". The Phalanx, as they've dubbed them, are amongst the most frightening visage of the daedric miasma, and should not be dealt with at any cost.
To specify, it is wearing a plated kidney belt, and wields any daedric weapon.

Reminds me slightly of the bad guy at the end of Tekken 5 .
Looks like a seriously nasty piece of work though, would make a good creature to pop out of a gate to Oblivion.

yep, Macar's won this run's money pot. At first, I penciled in a slow fade with my prismas, but after scanning it and cleaning it up, it seemed much better to smudge 'em out and swirl em.
Here's what it looked like pre-cleanup:

The texture on the head really sucks. its because it is hard to do that with a mouse, im seriously considering investing in a tablet for my PC. In fact, im bidding on one on ebay right now. I need to do a few more tweaks too.

That's the concept. Perfect. One thing, Nalzay, you should make the eye and the body a bit larger, and add those claw/hoof things to the feet. Just a few minor things.

Ever heard of evolution ? Why do most of humans don't have the whole body covered with hair ? Because they don't need it and it's not useful. Horns will get in the way so he'll either loose the horns or become non-predator.Macar wrote:I think it would be quite easy if he turns his head sideways.Stalker wrote:I really don't understand how he's going to use his mouth when he has there HUGE horns in the way. biologically speaking, sexual preference is another (minor) factor in evolution. It's what makes the bull-netches so large, Moose-horns so massive and peacock roosters so encumberant (the most extravagant are often the easiest caught by predators).

what I mean to say, like the bull netch, he's using the size of his horn to attract the lady yu'kasuu's, and scrap with the toms.
Then again, if he fucked with his horns, that'd make for an even more frightening encounter, wouldn't you say?
[edit] I forgot to mention, but Nalzay, I love the 3D model! The colour, the eyes and the proportions of the haunches looks great! My only qualm is that the jaw, unless it's a perspective thing, is a tad too large. He would be able to open wider if the blunt of the jaw-bone (the back of it) was a little smaller
