Theo's concepts

Post by Theo »

Well, almost everyone has his concept thread so maybe I can upload some images as well. I did some study of architecture in middle east (Turkey and Syria) and find out some interesting common features of Ottoman architecture, that could be helpful in model creation stage. For example Look at the house below and notice especially the shape of the roof, the rectangular shapes of windows and doors and the way the upper part hangs over the lower one little bit. I saw this on many pictures, so I tried to suggest some useful models to make this set more versatile.

Syrian would be closer to the stlye that's predominating as of now. Looks good though, I hope to see more. Too bad you dont have somthing better for transfering your drawings though, did you use a camera?

Second picture shows another house, with similar elements. I tried to think out what models would be needed as well, but I am not sure how much it would be possible to blead models into themselves.
If it is not much problem the cubical part could be enough to make the L, T and cross parts as well. Also doorjams and windows could be already part of the basic meshes so the modders would not have to place them manually, but there could be problem when they would like to cover them with additional features like awnings etc.
(Sorry for the quality, my scanner is scrapped so I used my digital camera)

EDIT: @Morgoth: Yes the windows seem a bit modern but the shape seems ok to me. Not all Hammerfell architecture can be minarets cupolas and arcades.
