Here's two patterns from moroccan tables, I made it look the best I could. I hope these will be useful as inspiration for some hammerfell textures or something. Pictures of the tables and some other moroccan or otherwise arabian stuff will be posted soon, I hope. (I have an oldfashioned camera so they have to be developped first)

Here's some Hammerfell weapons. I included Arabian and pirate swords, a halberd and two blunt pole-arm weapons of which I don't know the name but I do know something like them was used in the Otoman Empire (Turkey). I didn't want to make them too ornate so I kept it simple.

I have created a photoblog with some inspirational photos for Hammerfell. I got them from internet researching. Most of them are somewhat different from the typical middle eastern stuff, most of it is north African and most of the images are mosques.

Here's two helms, I think they would be fit for a company of royal guards in the desert region of Hammerfell. They're based on 18th/19th century Persian helms. I might include armor later, but I'm not sure if it'll work because it will be a full chainmail shirt with a breastplate and some other plates. I think this probably won't work ingame because it isn't built up from a cuirass, pauldrons, gauntlets, greaves and boots.

The color of the chainmail in the first one isn't right, it should be just like the officer's.
Feel free to comment, I hope everybody likes it.

Wow, they're pretty beutiful the Bard, I've never seen a helmet use chainmail to protect the eyes before! The only thing I would suggest is that you do a side, and perhaps back view of the second heltmet, to show off more of the detail on the top, and engravings, to give the moddeler more reference.
P.S. Please don't make handbags, wallets, belts or shoes out of Orix

So the chain isn't so thick at the eyes part so people can see trough it? Anyway these look very good... It hink that the officers chain looks more like steel than copper, o was that what you meant?

Here's a quick sketch of what the full armor would look like. I figured them as Ordinator type nasty guys carrying halberds (as you can see).
The quality isn't great but as I said it's a quick sketch. I was too busy to make a detailed functional sketch.

As I said, this is just a quick sketch, I'll do a functional on the entire armor some time soon (I hope). Meanwhile I'll see what I can do about the size and contrast.
Edit
Okay, I've enlarged it and raised the contrast, still not great in terms of quality but I think this the best I can get it right now.

Thanks the Bard, it does look like a good base concept for the grunt guards of less rich city/cities (depends if we follow Oblivion's example of making an armour set for guards f each city). I cant wait to see the functional sketch.the Bard wrote:As I said, this is just a quick sketch, I'll do a functional on the entire armor some time soon (I hope). I love the helmets, I'm not as crazy about the armor. I think the thing that botehrs me is that it looks very padded and warm. perhaps it is just the chain mittens. Otherwise I like it, the layers are neat.

Do note that it will be quite ornate and shiny and perhaps even a pattern in the chainmail which will make it look more expensive. I didn't plan it for less rich cities but I guess we'll just see what eventually happens with it.Orix wrote:Thanks the Bard, it does look like a good base concept for the grunt guards of less rich city/cities (depends if we follow Oblivion's example of making an armour set for guards f each city). Ahh, fair enough. It initally looks like "grunt" armour rather than fancy schmancy palace guard armour. Although It'll certainly be interesting to see your final design witht he other details
I agree with Macar that it does look warm (whether it was designed to hold in moisture to stop people dehydrating in the sun or whether it is designed to offer the most protection) though, Hammerfell does border with Cyrodil and Skyrim, both colder places in comparison... I dont know about High Rock but I assume the same is true. In that respect it would serve well for border cities, all depends on what you intended for the design .

I think the fact that it looks warm is mainly because of the way I drew it. It's just chainmail you know, I'll see if I can make it look more cool in the functional design. I might also leave the actual pauldrons out so that it will just be chainmail. I think they also help the warmth factor and they are not really needed (at least not for the guard).
