Bal Falls and Firewatch blueprints(?)-- for TES4:Vvardenfell

Post by KuKulzA »

please if this is in the wrong section of the forums, please move to the proper location, thanks!

I got interested in TES about 2 years ago and modding it about a year ago...
I have seen the successes of TR and the shortcomings....
and I think that Tamriel Rebuilt has done a great job so far, no one is perfect and the work you guys have put in is awesome to say the least.
The mission of the TES4 Vvardenfell team is to recreate Vvardenfell, except 6 years progressed to TES4 time and mixed with what i should've been according to old concept art, lore, and also blended with new ideas that would be in harmony with what had already been established. We are interested in not only Vvardenfell island but also the Firemoth archipelago, Bal Falls, and Firewatch.
Therefore I, TES4 Vvardenfell team leader, would like ask TR members if you can dig up blue prints or maps, or similar screenshots to view Firewatch and Bal falls.

we are not asking for this to copy but I understand your Morrowind Tamriel Rebuilt put in a lot of effort, and we hope to have your city plans for Bal Falls and Firewatch as reference for when we recreate them.

thanks, we appreciate it

Fisst off, we don't have blueprints for any city we build, it's all based on lore. The arrangement of general housing, taverns etc if based on logic, and palaces and imporatnt things are based on lore and previous TES games. So we dont need blueprints for ciites. Just go to a lore site, TIL being the best, dig stuff up on Firewatch and etc. and build your city based on that.

Thats not true. We're not that literal with lore Swiftoak. We put the city in location we can determine from lore. We also include notable structures, guilds, and other key features, but it is up to the modder to design the layout of the city itself. I will look for an overhead screenshot of Firewatch for you KuKulzA.

edit: It occurred to me that the overhead map of firewatch we use for interior claiming wouldn't suit your purposes, and I don't currently have access to the game Morrowind. Stalker and LadyN would probably be your best bet for getting screenshots of Firewatch.

so... basically instead of redrawing a city as a blueprint...
you guys base what you can on lore-established and then others on logic...
cool...

did you guys get the stuff for Bal Falls and Firewatch mostly from Arena?

EDIT: okay, thanks Morden!

EDIT: alright, so I guess I shall await another helpful guy to drop by, or in awhile contact one of the above personally
...like PMing or something....

The layout of Arena cities wasn't any help because we were going from such an old game to a 3d engine. Those cities weren't laid out with artistic design in mind.

Check my last edit.. sorry i couldn't be more help. ;)

That's just plain cruel, Sload.

Weren't they largely random with certain things in certain places to attempt and give it a semi-static feel? It has been a long time since I played Arena....

Actually KuKulzA, Sload just used paint to put in extra numbers as a joke to make it harder to use. Someone else could get you the the Bals Falls map. I would, but I don't have any idea which of our maps that would be on.

Oh CommonsNat... I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or if you actally think Sload took the time to put numbers on that map, just to make KuKulzA's life difficult. The truth is that the Bal Falls map is numbered because it is the image which was used for interior claiming. Each number corresponds with an interior claim. If we look in the claims browser, or the old interior threads there should be a list which gives a corresponding description of each numbered building.

no problem, and thanks!
I must say, Bal Falls in my opinion was well done...
Firewatch wasn't so great... I mean, yeah, Imperial port... but it didn't seem very distinct or interesting in my opinion....

and again thank you all very much :D

the main problem with firewatch is the lack of detail. the concept is great (not well expresed on the overhead map though)

Firewatch looks far more interesting for real...when it's not coming straight down...
You can see the tall buildings....like 8 floors tall...

I think the lighthouse has more than 8 floors. I can also agree that positioning of houses is illogical. But I really can't say it's lacking detail. At least MW engine won't be able to render more stuff I could've put there.

It was also one of the first claims at TR... that should be saying enough. Stalker's detailing made it much better.
