Pug's Showcase

Post by Pug »

After getting a Friendly PM I decided I would take a crack at joining. I was going to wait but here goes...

I dont have much stuff to show you guys since I've recently cleaned up my HDD's because I'm getting a new system soon. I've uploaded some of the stuff I have left, it's not much. I wont be doing any CS stuff untill I get my new computer tho since my current computer is dying a slow death and it could go at any moment. Should have the new one next week I hope.

I can do music, but I'm not very good at it. I could only find one song I did along time ago. It's rubbish but I uploaded it anyway.

I use stuff like bryce, poser etc etc, dont know if thats any use here? Loading screen graphics maybe? I uploaded a WIP of a picture I entered into a compition.(the site has ruined the pic but you get an idea)

I'm scottish and have a deep accent so maybe I can do nord voices? I'll upload some voice samples when I get my new computer.

Anyway you can see the stuff I've uploaded here: http://www.putfile.com/khanpug

I'll get to work on the CS when I get my new baby, do I have to use TES3's CS or can I use TES4's?

Some decent Nord voices would be great, the crappy american ones don't suit them, even though actually, I always imagine them being more swedish. Big Blonde people, can you blame me? I ahven't checked your wrok cus it's late, and i don't want to wake up the neighbourhood and it's dog, cus my speakers are too loud, I will see tomorrow.

Hey, do I see warhammer characters in those pics? Nice.

As for the music. It's not bad, but it's to synthy for TES. It has some potential, however, if you used some different samples.

You can use either. If you plan on doing your CS work for Hammerfell, then I think it'd be best if you showcased your work from the 4 engine.

I hope you get your new computer up and going soon! :)

Yes the pic is inspired by Warhammer. The guy in red armour who is killing the High Elves is supposed to be a Vampire Count(Blood Dragon). I think it's the best pic I've done to date, thats why I still have it on my computer. I still use it for my desktop background.

Yeah, it has the potential to give headaches :) . The reason I made it was to use it in credits or somthing along those lines. But it realy does give me a sore head the more I listen to it, so I stoped working on it.

CS4 it is then :)

Wish I had more stuff to show, but guess I'll have to wait. Thanks for the replys tho ;)

Heres a sketch I did just now. Never realy been one for drawing and this is the first time i've done a consept pic. The idea for it is to be a HF short blade. The small knives wouldn't be usable, but would be part of the sheath. Could just remove them though. Thoughts?

My computer shiped today so I might even get it this week :)

Hey pug. I love Bryce. If only it had decent modeling it would be my favorite program in the world!

I have enjoyed your most recent composition. Mind if I ask about your musical background?

I dont realy have a musical background. I dont have any music qualifications if thats what your asking, since I left school at 15 ( I'm now 28 ). I do have a keyboard and can play it, thats about it. I do everything on my computer though, since my keyboard is pants compared to what PC's can do.

I was just asking because your harmonies dont sound like someone who never had any training. That is to say, it's all functional, not a lot of parallel 5ths, ect.

But I guess you just have a natural ear.

It's just a remix I did of another song I quite liked when I heard it this morning. But it is royalty and copyright free so it's useable. I only did it because I had nothing else to do all day. I dont plan on doing more music, but I might if the mood hits me. I just want to focus on the CS when my PC finaly gets here.

Edit: Edited cause I was grumpy when I first wrote it. :P

Moderator's Recommendation (HA! No Boldy! ~PoHa!)

Pug has shown particular talent in the area of music, I'd like him promoted so he can contribute fully to the Stirk Music project.

Cheers. Guess I'll have to do more music now :P . I've started on a few but it's slow going, keep deleting them and starting again. Once I get a good start though it normally dont take long to finish it.
CleverClothe wrote:Could you darken the lines on your drawing and rescan? It is hard to see. :(
Sure, I'll rescan it when I get access to the scan thing again, I dont own one myself.

I'm on my new computer, having major problems, but thats to be expected. Cant get access to Sata 1 port on my motherboard cause of the huge GPU. So I have my main drive (raid) on 3 and 4. The problem is getting my 2 old HDD's working. I got them to work after 5 hours, but when I rebooted it all went down the toilet, windows would no longer load up. So I dont have access to my stuff. Hope to fix it soon tho.

But.... Oblivion is running perfect, max everything, I did'nt expect performance like that after reading the posts in the TES forums.

From This place:
...The latter is limited to Oblivion gates and events like the assassins at the start of the game. Generally, they're nice to have but you can live without them:

bDoSpecularPass=0 (default 1)
bUseRefractionShader=0 (default 1)
That may or may not help some.

And, Pug, you may find some things on that site to increase your visuals beyond what you have. Unless you've already been tweaking your .ini... ;)

Also: Windows won't load up, but Oblivion runs great? PoHa! is confused on how that works... unless it is the likely event that PoHa! misread/misunderstood something...

Not done anything yet, just did the theives guild first quest. Not touched the ini and no graphic mods either, I'll play with those later :) . I did get the Coolbits reg thing tho, but didn't seem to do anything so I set it back on 3.

The only way I can get my computer to work right now is by unpluging my two old HDD's. When they are pluged in everything stops working.

Think I've lost all the data on one of them due to my experiments.

Alright, since I now have Lightwave I'm hoping I'll be able to make models that are usable to TR. So as my very first model I've started on the consept posted above. Not even close to finished yet.

Did a bit more with it, model is finished apart from the lion head, but since I'm upto 2000 I think I'll give it a miss. It can be a gem stone or somthing instead. Still needs a few finishing touchs, but I'm done with it for now.

http://img481.imageshack.us/img481/3697/s36yr.jpg

Edit: After playing with Lightwave for awhile, think I'll just stick with 3ds max for modeling.

Started it again, in max this time.

Model is done, just needs texturing, since I made a total mess of my last three attempts. I'll start again tomorrow, maybe. Had enough unwarp and mapping disasters for a week. Next one will be symmetrical. :)

Time for a update, heres somthing from another topic:

Not done anything for my showcase in awhile, so I'm gonna start a new model. :)

I want to do a dragon. But since I realy dont have the time to do a whole dragon, I'm just going to do a dragons head and mount it on a staff. Thats the plan anyway.

I wont be using any concepts for this, since I dont have any. I could grab a pic from the net I suppose. But I would rather have nothing instead of some picture which is useless for modelling purposes, I find they just make things harder. Cant beat the mind's eye.

This is what I've done so far:

LoL, not much I know. But you gotta start someplace. Just hope it turns out good and I dont embarrass myself.

This model is going to take awhile, since I'll only be working on it when I have some free time. So I'll just edit this post every so often to update it.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that staff. Seemed like the best shape for mounting a dragon head. But I think this staff might look better as carved wood instead of metal. Maybe painted with rich colors....
