Heh, just overpriced

It was actually quite cheap because you only had to cut one shape for the whole of tunic, and then string it together. Thus it could be mass produced. Furthermore, if you took a bit of damage, only a few bits would be ruined, and easily replaced.

The mediumweight counterpart would be brigandine. This was just a stout coat with rectangles of metal studded onto it. Heavier, but good protection, and again easy to maintain. A noble could have a coat which had another sheet of fabric over the plates, hiding it, making him look all smart but also protecting him against assassins.

Tinglet armor looks fantatsic, but I am still interested in Lutemoth's China Idea. I might do an attempt at Tinglet, or some sort of plate.

To Stalker's post (previous page): I didn't say we can't have more armor crafted from the usual TES materials, but some uniqueness would be welcome, I think. Bone armor, as you said, and perhaps armor and weapons from other minerals, even gems maybe. Allow me to draw your attention to a MW mod by Canadian Ice. It was called knihts of the ruby, or ruby armor, or something along these lines. Anyway it is a very nice armor, 50% of which is made of rubies. or the Netch Adamantium armor, the retexture of Beth's adamantium which was awesome. Combinations might work well, but I'm in favor of some more exotic designs.

However, it is too early to make plans for armor, sorry if I got carried away.

Macar: Those are all asian coins, i'm assuming chinese. There was a huge fur trade on the west coast of Canada... largely fueled by the asian markets. Native peoples traded with ships that sailed across the pacific... since the coins held no actual currency value to the aboriginal people, the coins were used otherwise... like being sewn into this suit of armor.

I've only noticed this thread was updated just now, hehe. Wondeful colouring, ladyN! It gives it a life very much more vivid than the lined version :)

Your watercolors are getting better all the time. Those highlights are really nice especially on the cloth.

A good tip for watercolouring...if you are trying to jsut go for detail and accuracy, use watercolour pencils. Rather than diluting the solid paint first and then applying it, you draw the paint on in a pencil form and then add water for a solid colour, or for blurring. Its really easy and looks great.

A little somethin'-somethin' to refresh my inspiration between drawings. The so-called Medusa is a stretch to place in Tamriel, but I'd believe it if the name was a Cyrodiil impression. I'll have more conceptuals updated later

[edit]first image updated with more detail
Also, a bit of atmospheric doodling to lighten my mood:

Adrin, sprawled backwards, watched as his Nilna turned into a lifeless doll under the the Medusa's constricting claws. It stared at him, supporting the limp thing, with knowing intelligence. Adrin was paralyzed, waiting for a final response..

But it never talked, it never, ever talked

They couldn't be given the right physics, though. I love the idea, I just think it'd be better of they like flayed out randomly like wild fro hair kinda. They could be wide at the end like snakeheads so that in the dark they looked like snakes.

yeah, something has to be dead to have that havoc limp, doesn't it? It wouldn't matter if the snakes were limp, as long as they don't clip so much with the shoulders. Hell, they could be modeled to dance, as far as I'm concerned

I mean they would have to be stiff in the position they were modelled, which would be kind of lame.

Precicely so. Remember the morrowind mod that involved a cape fixed at a ballooned position? Never do I wish to see that happen again

I'm not quite sure what you guys are talking about.. I'm pretty each "snake" strand could be rigged and animated seperately, and, assuming we get havok data, each of them could have their own ragdoll limp effect.

Capes/Whips weren't (and probably aren't) a possibility because Bethesda didn't include animatable weapons/armor, but creatures you have full control over how they are animated.

WOAH!!!! I want photoshop, and a crash course in it, I seriously am gonna get it now, Lute your art is just, so..... aaarghh, can't describe it, it's really amazing, it looks so professional, and picturesqe, and very poetic... if I can say that, or stylised i dunno, I am really amazed. But I gotta stop now, I think I've already proved myself a complete arse licker.... lol.

And back to the actually medusa design, it's very Tamrielish, and I like the idea that your concept put across, like perhaps a quest around finding a medusa's lair, with devoured bodies inside. It looks very scary, and almost reptilian, well i say almost, it was completely reptilian.

d'aww! gi'dj bwh-pishaw! Way to make a grown man blush!
To get back on track, the photoshopping I've done was simply three layers of images, using the blur tool and some low-opacity shading, to give it less of a cardboard-cutout look.

Is that Yokudan? :)

As for medusa, it is really cool. I love a new take on an old stale idea. That grin-like mouth is really creepy.

As for the lower body, what had you intended. I seem to remember you said something about a serpentine lower half. However, you seem to have intentionaly left it out.

It looks pretty serpential (is that a word?) to me, you might be looking at the body it's clutching. OOOH I really like, a cool idea perhaps, it in the model, you could mould faces, becuasse you can in snakes see their food halfwaythrough them. So perhaps some screaming face shapes on it's skin, that would be creepy.

I had a lot of fun drawing this one. Something about this whole Y'Vassa business really gets me pepped up on the zombie-craze.
What is it about drawing zombies that I love? The absolute expendability, the tendency to hoard on mass, and the potential for wonderous ass-kicking, to name a few.

Hehe. I bought a copy of the movie poster that has that line a few years ago. Very nicely done Lute. The refined weapon and armor concepts in the picture make it even more valuable. Make as many 'Scenes of Stirk' as you wish. :)

Very cool but very HF. Let's not forget that stirk is imperial (despite a large Redguard population). The fact is- we arent going to have a lot of new models- so the people will probably use imperial weapons and armor. But very cool pic, none-the-less.

Lute, you never cease to amaze me. Your concepts are great, but some of the names are rather... unpronouncable, to me at least.

Keep up the good work, you're quite the asset. :)

Very true, and in the very same scene, these would most definetly be guards fending off monsters instead. I myself would throw this in the 'not stirk' pile, as I'll try making more atmospheric inks of stirk quite soon.

And thank you, Nanu Ra! I pride myself on making things as pronounceable as a Mayan diety's name :P

What? You think Quixxlellzzzaxxly3saarrxx is hard to pronounce?

I see, that picture wast supposed to be stirkish. Exuse me. You know, seeing that pic makes me sad that the whole "TR comic" idea fell apart, because those characters are just begging to be brought to life- they have such liveley expressions (exept the zombies, of course)

That picture also can't be used promotionally because it's a huge spoiler :P but I think some that don't ruin the climax would be interesting.

What should we use then? Scenes of an idylic resort? I dont think that would be very interesting. I'm not trying to be crass, I'm really just wondering what you suggest. (PS. Promotional material would make a good WSG :) )

Thieves sneaking about in an idyllic island, for example. And by promotional, I would mean with our post saying "OMG we come out with this mod" but ESF doesn't let us have images in our posts.

I dunno, they got away pretty well with concept art in Morrowind without spoiling anything, as far as I can tell. Then again, a full depiction of Lorkhan was quite revealing, but didn't spoil anything to extreme. I'm sure we could get away with quite a bit and still be furtive with our info.

The next atmosp. doodle I've got going is total spoiler (TU TEH M4X LOL!!), but I'm reviewing anvil architecture some more for the next few(so things won't look out of place all too much)

as for the zombie smashfest above, it can go into the hammerfell pile as far as I'm concerned. They have Redguard equipment anyhoo, so it's no biggie. A WSG on promo material is a splendid idea, btw

[edit]
here we are, for spoiled eyes only. I tried to avoid any major facial traits on Y'vassa's host-body, so there you go.
