Ashlander Tribes
I have a question.. are the Ahemmusa, Erabenimsun, Urshilaku, and Zainab the only true Ashlanders tribes left? Or are the others tribes as well just smaller?
I am wondering because I know SOME of the small tribes are outcasts, others are not. Also, in the Nerevarine Prophecies, the Nerevarine only has to be proclaimed by four tribes, and I think there would be a lot more tribes in Nerevar's time since the nomadic Chimer and settled Chimer were equal in power at the time.
so are the 'four tribes' the only four tribes or the only officially recognized ones as they retain their numbers and small influence?

Well, there aren't any ashlanders on the main land because there aren't any ashlands, I can say that much. I'm pretty certain therefore that because Bethesda only made four tribes one Vvardenfell that there are only four tribes left in existance. There may have been more years before but I imagine they were gradually wiped out.
Or maybe there are supposed to be more tribes, but due to scaling down there are only four. Also, shouldn't there be ashlanders on the mainland? The Grazelands are free of ash but ashlanders live there, or at least there should be similar nomads in the mainland who worship the Daedra, dislike the settled people, raid etc...

I think its funny that Arthmodeus and I have conflicting memories of the discussion. I'll find a link.
But truth be told, our lore discussion forum isn't really for random questions about lore. ESF has a forum for that kind of thing.

Found it. I was more or less right.

Mt. St. Delyn? That sound like Mt. St. Helen, maybe there should be a bad erruption... Just kidding, that would take too much scripting. Anyway, it seems to be decided that there are camps on the mainland, and ashlands. But are there major camps? If no, that would give a reason for you not having to go to them for the Morrowind MQ, but I would like to see new ashlander camps... Actually, I know this would conflict with Morrowind, but the idea of having to find an extremely nomadic tribe in the mainland and win it's support, maybe by stopping the building of a mining village in the ahslands, is rather appealing to me, not to say I'd like it done for TR, but the idea of you searching a vaugely outlined area, maybe with only the help of a riddle, seems nice to me, if dull to others.
hmm.... well from I can tell of your discussing...
I conclude that the four Ashlander tribes are major ones that have survived... the rest are small ones that are partially comprised of outcasts and do not maintain fully their old clan-lineage as well. Also there maybe a few Velothi nomad tribes on the mainland but if so, very few, most likely in the Telvanni territory's mountains or deep in the less settled south.
I think most got eventually assimilated or wiped out...

Yes, that's what I was suggesting. IMHO, three tribes on the mainland at most, but I rather like the idea of two or one. The rest are just outcasts, too small to be considered major or assimilated with the 'settled people'. And I still like the idea of one of the major tribes, if we do include them, being more nomadic than any other tribes, never in the same spot.

It would seem odd if there weren't ashlanders on the mainland. There are plenty of remote locations where small bands could have survived. I can see maybe four or five additional tribes living on the mainland. Its large enough and when you look at how close the camps were on Vvardenfell you suddenly start seeing dozens of places in the wilderness where small camps could be set up.

Nobody said anything bout Cyrodiil. Refer to a map of morrowind, and notice how the island Vvardenfell, where teh game takes place, only makes up part of the province. The rest of morrowind is this 'mainland' we are referring to.-Saddistic_Angel- wrote:They hail from the Ashlands of Morrowind, though, seeing as it is the home of the Dunmer, and Nerevar was born and existed there, so I don't see them living in Cyrodil.

i would
both skyrim and argonia are inhospitable envoirments, especialy for the traditional ashlanders. they most likley would not leave their homeland (nerevar born there, etc.) especialy into places where they would be even more out of place.
