Yes, it is a Staff

Post by Rockwell »

Here's a picture of a staff that my good ol friend is working on. Currently, he is trying to get it to work in Half-Life, but if we were to put it into Morrowind, would he just save it as a .nif or is there some program you have to use? Tell me what you think about the staff. The pic is at the bottom.

Nice staff!

As for exporting, that depends on the program he's using. If it's 3D Studio max (4 or higher), he can just download a free .nif exporter from Bethesda's home page. With other programs, he'll have to do some stunts, like with gmax, which needs a model exported and converted to M3D (Quake) format, then converted to .nif, which kills all animation data.

Hope I could help with that, I'm still fighting with gmax myself.

Cool, thanks. I'll tell him about the exporter. It's not completely finished yet, as you can see the lower portion of the staff hasn't been skinned yet.

How do you get something from gmax into an nif file? I always assumed it was impossible.

pretty good, it's bent where it gets big at the top, and the folds in the wood are a little much, but it looks awesome! Especially the globe!
