atmospheric art
I just discovered the world of tamriel through oblivion.
which lead me to want to learn more so i just got arena and started morrowind. by researching the lore online i discovered this site. the concept art inspirored me so much that I sat down for a while to try some art.
for a warm up I thought I'd just start with one translation of a peice that I seen here.

that peice really invoked a lot of thought so I set to try and translate it into a photorealistic image.

here is my try. I look forward to doing more original concepts as I research and learn more about tamriel through this site as well as enjoying the games.

I love it when people jump into the CA forums

First and foremost, this is detailed beyond human sight. I keep squinting for more to compare the absolute gargantuan ruins and it's surroundings. May I ask in what manner you accomplished this piece? It's awe-inspiring, to say the least

I'm really glad you like it. that encourages me to post more.
I used for that peice. Blender3d to add the dome to the top of the premade tower segment. vue 5 infinate is used to render the scene. vue does a nice job with volumetrics and lighting. The scattered ruins surroundingthe tower is script generated effect in vue called ECO systems. where one can define the environment and set perameters as to scale and density.
then I take the render into Gimp where I use layer blending method called Neutral Density (common in photography) the man standing inthe desert is hand drawn using wacom tablet. also withthe tablet I accent some details.

You mean you didn't use Bryce? Wow. That is one beautiful piece. To think that that was way back in the first WSG and people are still refering to it. May I suggest that the sun be a bit more visable, and that maybe you could add a few birds flying over? That would really make it come alive. Otherwise, I think this should be numero uno in our promotional art section. Any chance of making more? Also, if you'd like to fully join TR, post a thread about your work in the showcase forum. You'll be promoted if we think you merit it. (And this certainly does.)

I have been doing various forms of art for 30 yrs.
charcoal, colored pencil, water color, acrylics, oil.
8 yrs with photoshop, gimp.
only about 2 years with vue, blender 3, uv mapper.
I'm also a musicisian (guitar) classical and ambient jazz.
My day job keeps me from commiting to more art. I work as a CNC controler programmer and program engineer.
ps: any where on this site where aspects of look and feel descriptions of areas of tamriel are commited to unify development? I would love to read these ideas to make and post/share more art.

atmospheric ancient dunmer mating ritual
I really didn't know how to label this one since it doesn't seem to qualify as functional I guess atmosperic will work.
I conceived of an early time in dunmer history when the nords were allowed to ally with some houses of the dunmer. based on the notion that the enemy of my enemy is my friend. I theorize in this image that like in most fuedal societies treaties were dependent on matrimony.
here the bride never before used to seeing outsiders is awaiting the cerimony where by the blood of both is mingled and shared bonding the two forever. upon first seeing her mate she looks at him shyly as well as with intrige.

anyways I hope you all like.

lol, I guess I see your point.
ok, I'm very open minded.
you or any one else here ... do the honors and name the image.
I'm cool with that, people here seem very constructive and i bet you all can definatly come up withthe better name.

actualy, the concept art forum is the place where we work out look and feel- in particular the WSGs and Lutemoth and Scumbago's art threads. Also, for written info, check some of the finished books about hammerfell as well as the Lore section.ps: any where on this site where aspects of look and feel descriptions of areas of tamriel are commited to unify development?

The Dunmer were much sexier in the elden days. Really though, the name of the image isn't important. The quality is the important part, and so far your style is one of the nicest I've seen on TR to date. I've always appreciated concept modellers, because people like you can't be beat at promotional art. I suggest that you take a look at our weekly sketch group. (Every week naturally.) You may get inspired. If you continue with us, I forsee a tangible change in our art gallery. (And let's hope for that.) Sometimes people are too constructive for their own good here, so don't take it personally. It is very helpful though, so don't ignore it either. I for one give you a big pat on the back for these concepts.

As for people being too critical for our own good- yeah, it happens.

cult of the dreamer. I didn't want to post this on the hammerfell necromancy wsg cuz i didn't think it was specific enough.
six years after the fall of Dagoth ur at the hand of the Nerevarine. many of the "dreamers" were released fromtheir madness. Others that felt that Dagoth Ur was the true source for mystic power were forced or compelled to flee morrowind.
over time some dreamers followed trade routes leading to hammerfell. while finding refuge in the Nohotogrha oasis some realized that the power of Dagoth ur has been decimated but not altogether destroyed (note Vivec's speach after defeating Dagoth Ur).
This lingering essences is beleived by some to be only in need of faith of it followers and the feeding of blood and flesh rituals to bring back that imortal essence of Dagoth ur.

The mini story is never ment to be set in stone. I just was repeating back an outline of the thoughts that were running through my mind at the conception of the piece, in your own minds it ay speak another story ...
I did the same with another image posted in showcase.

Jolda (The Huntress) born of Cyrodiil always daydreamed and wondered of the beauty of the land Hammerfell. All she knew was the many stories told to by her father on rainy nights.
And now, to finally gaze upon the land of her heritage besets her heart with a bitter sweet joy. Knowing that she now must make her own life and find her path in Tamriel alone.
For it was only three months ago, that this very moment was but a dream. When a band of Orc mauraders raided her fathers farm.
her father was killed before her very eyes while trying to protect her. As her fathers body lay limp at her feet, drawing a line between her and the enemy. Jolda reached down for her fathers axe.
she grasped it in a manor to pretend that she knew how to use it. But the Orc stood there and laughed.
As he did so his weapon slowly came down to point to the hard wood floor of her fathers cottage. that is when she in a moment of panic lunged the axe blindly towards her enemy.
When the panic subsided she seen the orc lying next to her father whith her hand still tightly holding the axe as it rested deep inside the orcs skull.
the rest of raiding party witnessed the death of their leader at the hands of the young woman. Gestured that she had earned the respect of band. They continued the loot the farm leaving her unharmed to bury what was left of her known world.
the end
I know my spelling is bad and my grammer worse. but I hope you enjoy the image along with short story.
I also want to thank those of you who posted the encouraging posts, that really motivates me to make more art.
