Skittles' & Hemitheon's Showcase

Post by skittles »

Well, hemitheon and I are making a mod right now. it doesnt really sound exiting but since everyone releases screenshots before a mod comes out,
here are some pics!

http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m234/skittles12345987654321/darkhold-exterior.jpg

http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m234/skittles12345987654321/Merne-Exterior.jpg

http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m234/skittles12345987654321/someretexturesofarmour.jpg

the ACTUAL mod will not be intended on being reviewed by a reviewer because of the size.

enjoy! :v

Here are some pictures. Some may recognize a couple of the pics. I revamped Castle Csejthe, added/cut and changed things. Plus the addition of new stuff.

So let me explain the new ones.

This is a Temple to Arkay (now in ruins.) It was hard to get a good pic of it cuz of all the columns.:
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k315/Hemitheon/AbbeyofArkay.jpg

This is the audience chamber
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k315/Hemitheon/AudienceChamber.jpg

I didnt know Skittles had created a museum already, but oh well here's a second one. Technically this one was meant to be a private museum.
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k315/Hemitheon/PrivateMuseum.jpg

I took the inspiration for the library from a real world place called Virtual World. It's not exact, but the game doesn't have a dinosaur skull for displaying.
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k315/Hemitheon/Library.jpg

The entrance hall is incomplete as of yet. I wanted the place to have an atrium. This meant leaving a huge whole in the ceiling so I filled it in with this dome.
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k315/Hemitheon/EntranceHallincomplete.jpg

This is yet another revamped cell. I replaced the original Mournhold scenae with Telvanni as the play Horror of Castle Xyr is about Telvannis.
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k315/Hemitheon/Theater1.jpg

This one needs explaining. You're looking down from a secret balcony onto a 5 tiered Daedric temple devoted to Molag Bal. So far I dont have a name for it, but I call it the Inverted Pyramid cuz that's what it looks like.
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k315/Hemitheon/DaedricTemple.jpg

Now everyone critique them and Skittles tell me what you think.

Hemitheon, forgive me for asking if you've already mentioned it elsewhere, but do you have Oblivion? Those interiors are simply divine! My favorite is the library, great job on the books! Second favorite is the theater...nice use of creativity!

the .esp is currently in progress.

i am working on it today and i don't know when it will be finished.

the .esp isnt to HUGE so it will be finished soon, maybe.

The mod will contain an equivelent of 300 new books extracted from castle csejthe (the original) and other bethesda games like daggerfall, redguard, battlespire, and oblivion.

New featured tilesets, dark grey MH, have been retextured to fit the underground district. They are supposed to look like they were constructed from PyCave rock, meaning i am scripting it to where you can mine from the PyCave mines in merne and turn the ore into the dude in the front office, and he will give you money for them.

Hemitheon and I have a vivid outline of the storyline and quest planned for it, and it will be figured out and added as soon as, well, when we are ready for adding specifics.

overall i have finished the imperial part of merne, and am working on the underground district.

i only have about 5-6 buildings to finish and then merne will be done.

i dont know if we are planning on adding any other city/town/other crap to this mod, and we havent even discussed it but briefly.

i do love the screenshots hemitheon. they rock.

Thanks for the feedback. Right now, my computer does not have the requirements for Oblivion. But Im treating myself to a systems upgrade in November for my bday. Ill be getting a new video card and 1 gig of ram. Then I can finally buy Oblivion. Im a huge fan of books, my real collection boasts several 17th century manuscripts. I wanted a library that looked real and not just a set of bookcases with books thrown all about. A true bibliophile would never showcase his own collection in that manner nor would he put them in a random order. The books you see are alphabetized. The library you see is not the entire cell. There is a secondary room attached with empty display cases. I mean why would anyone keep a copy of Egg of Time or Kagrenac's Journal next to a copy of Varieties of Faith? Rare books go in one, common books in another.

I am very impressed, those screens look very promising. Is it just you two or do you have community of some sort? It seems as though you've done a heck of alot of work with only two people. How long has this been in progress?

It's just us. I think we've been working on it for like 2/3 weeks. Skittles is lucky enough to know how to retexture stuff. I only get to use the meshes the game offers. But I think it's better that way. It leads to more creative ways of building. Mind you, I would love to have enormous bronze caryatids of the Daedric Lords for the entry hall but oh well. I can dream.

Cayatids are the statue-columns, right? You might try bas-relief, or maybe mosaic, instead. Should be far easier to model.

Why not post a WIP version of the mod? You could very easily be opsted on the basis of that WIP, if it's as nice as those screenies.

As far as Caryatids go, there are modular statue parts of the daerdic gods, you could probably make your own.

I really like your Arkay temple, you seem to have gotten the whole collapsed effect down pat.

Good job on the atrium, such creativity is always welcome. (There are some straight low indoril walls you might want to use around the hole in OoT, they might work better than those Mournhold benches, if you're interested)

actually, texturing is SIMPLE.
it's easy.
the only thing it takes is time to make.
i'll PM a tutorial to you hemitheon, and anyone who wants one.

3d modeling is also fairly easy to get the hang of, the hard part is finding the import/export plugins for your program for .NIFs, and finding the right size of textures, or else they wont show up in morrowind with certain 3d modeling programs.

Hemitheon and I have actually only traded screenshots and info on the mods that are going to be made into one large mod.

Most of the screens you see come from this plugin. The others are from another. There's no aboveground entrance as it will be entered from below ground, hence the ruins of the Abbey. I decided to replace the stone walls of the library with nice mahogany ones. Makes it more cozy and not so cold. The books in one of the cases is just for show. They'll eventually be removed.

http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k315/Hemitheon/Theater3.jpg

The plugin isnt perfect yet, but have a look anyway.

Liking the wooden panel walls in the library - and the Theatre looks really good from that wider angle! :)) It'd look even better with some sitting NPC's in there too.

This is a giant step up from the old one. It looks great, and you really show that you can take your creativity and temper it into something very impressive.

Very impressive indeed.

well, i wish i could post a WIP version but the mod is 40 mb from all the models, textures, etc and i would only enjoy uploading it twice (when hemitheon is going to add the quest and when it is finished)

if i uploaded the WIP version you would think less of it.

It all blends together in the end.

The construction will finish soon and the quest will be done on hemitheon's behalf. I cannot say how long it will take him because i don't know his schedule.

i have the rough sketch for the main quest.

sometime in merne a guy proclaims himself as Lorkhon reincarnate, and they punish him and banish him from Vvardenfell (sounds just about right) and you have to retrieve him, blah blah blah, and in the end it all works out and Lorkhon becomes your buddy and castle csejthe is recovered (not rebuilt, just populated more, by archeoligists and such)

I'm sure hemitheon has a quest for this.

the mod will contain about 2 major new cities and 3-4 sub-cities or ruins.

does anyone know where i can get a import/exporter for .NIF for Gmax?

There is a way to change from GMax's format to .nif, but apparently it's unrealistically complicated, etc.

You'd be better off with blender.

i figured out blender.

overall the mod is about 85% done by estimate. i am currently thinking about more retexture work for fun!!

i mean, you dont HAVE to review textures. that would be retarted.

so far no new weapons so i will be making the following:

long blade keening
adamantium bow and arrow
glass bow and arrow
blue ebony weapons
blue glass weapons
red glass weapons
and more!

sorry dialuppers, this mod is going 2 take a while 2 download! :)

well, i decided to keep both and have a choice in-game.

i have a rough draft story line:

1.) arrive in merne, a when you talk to a guard, he says there was a political fuss a little while ago; so go see the counceler

2.)the counceler says that a dunmer claimed to be the god Lorkhon reincarnated

3.) the government doesnt know how to punish him so they send you to the imperial archives in Firehold to retrieve the law that will punish him.

4.) you go to firehold and the law states: "...those said to be a god reincarnated shall be banished to a prison that is seperated from tamriel; nor landlocked or populated..." (that is where darkhold comes in place)

5.) you get back to merne, tell the counceler of this law and he says that he recieved word of that the imperial law book in Firehold was outdated.

6.) he asks you to go to the governor of Vvardenfell (not morrowind) in Kanae, and retrieve the new law.

7.) the guard at the entrance to the governor's office said that he left a few days back and hasnt returned; and out of suspicion he thinks that he was taken to an ancestoral tomb west of the city by a vampire

8.) you retrieve the governor and he gives you some armor; the kanae guard armor; and a little gold. he also tells you that the new law "...the self proclaimed god will be put through three trials:

trial 1: go to cachtice and retrieve the "holy" chain male armor guarded by many entities

trial 2: go to the ruins of castle csejthe and retrieve the death mask (i forgot the name, though it is somewhere in there)

trial 3: go to darkhold and kill Vyre, a powerful vampire that blights Vvardenfell, and retrieve his helmet (or you can just take all his armor!)

9.) you go to darkhold to retrieve Lorkhon from his prison off Vvardenfell

10.) Lorkhon has been tormented by undead and has replaced his body with mechanicals (like sotha sil) and will need your help to accompany him

11.) you help him on the trials and he succeeds

12.) the merne counceler and other councelers get together and decide to declare him a god; well i guess he is (like the PC)

13.) as a reward; they grant you and Lorkhon the stronghold of Kanae

14.) you get a castle and can visit lorkhon and he will heal you nad crap whenever, and the people there serve you

15.) thats it.

:) FEEDBACK IS VERY APRECIATED :)

The only thing I don't get has nothing to do with the quest itself: You say that the PC is a god, when he isn't. While Nerevar was the champion of Azura, Hortator and a Saint of the Tribunal he was no god, and the PC never becomes a god, he only becomes the champion of Azura and the Hortator. Anyway, as long as it isn't supposed be Lore friendly, it sounds good. :D

Technically the Player cant become a god but there are mods out there that change the ending of the main script. If anything, to remain in the Lore, Skittles, you could change the name of Lorkhon (not Lorkhan). It can't be Lorkhan because Lorkhan's body makes up the world of Nirn I think. But if it were some new Daedric god or a god of a new religion, or a dead god/saint reincarnated (like Nerevarine). Maybe he could be Saint Veloth reincarnated but now with superpowers or perhaps a new Padomaic. Or my personal fav, Alandro Sul, who according to the 5 Songs of Wulfharth, was the son of Azura. Nerevar being the son of Boethiah. Or maybe perhaps Lorkhon will be the first in a series of divine manifestations sent as messengers to Nirn to prophesize the coming of a catastrophic event in Tamriel's history, such as the Daedric attack on Cyrodiil. If ya did it that way, then it would be somewhat similar to the character Damnatus Vates, who appears in one of the books I had in Castle Csejthe. If you wanna look it over, I think I named the book "Life of the Damned Seer": a character that would appear in history during times of need.

He he, sort of like Hoonding, right? Anyway, the Alandro Sul idea is very appealing, I'm wondering: If Nerevar is the son of Boethai, (Which to me really seems unlikely. Are you sure it isn't just a story? If it isn't then... Probably the only or one of the only Daedra Princes to really die, and then be reincarnated), anyway, if Nerevar is the son of Boethai and the champion of Azura, would Alandro Sul, as the son of Azura, be Boethai's champion? Not real logic, but maybe it was crossed over like that. Anyway, pure speculation, ignore me.

Nerevar was the champion and Alandro Sul was maybe his guardian. Kinda like the David and Jonathon story. But out of the 5 (Alma, Vivec, Alandro, Sotha Sil, Nerevar) Alandro was the only one not immortalized. Nerevar dont count as he was dead. I dont think Nerevar was a Daedroth. He's like Hercules. So if we go the route of Alandro Sul, then what made him an immortal as to live this long. I mean didnt the Red Mountain Battle occur during the Merethic Age? So for a complete story, we'd have to figure out a way that could make him a god. And he cant use the Heart as after it's destruction, the Tribunal began losing its divinity. Well I guess that means a new power source. Mantella gone, Heart gone. hmmmm. Skittles, your imput?

Why isn't it that the main character is Sul's incarnate? I'm not sure how the whole Nerevar thing works, though... (By the way, the example of Hercules isn't quite right, as Hercules was still immortal, which is why he didn't burn up when he put on the fatal sweater, shirt or whatever he put on. (I've seen the... garment referred to as many different things). And Daedra do not look like Daedroth. Malacath looks like a dark elf, and was an elf, Azura is shown to have dunmer skin, which doesn't seem to make much sense, and Boethai also looks like an elf. Only Mehrunes Dagon was shown as a red-and-black giant, so it is fair to assume that Alandro Sul looks like any other Dunmer, by maybe with smoother features, like the apparation of Azura at the end of Tribunal. This is good, although I doubt it'd be feasible to have a castle as such on that steep of a grade. I'd flatten it out to at least a 25 degree grade (right now it seems like a 45 or 50 degree grade) and then focus on detailing; you've got the basics down perfect. It's details that make a mod come alive!

EDIT - And cool work on those retextures! Keep it up with those!

And Hemitheon, any chance of some more interior screenshots?

Oh, my mistake. By the way, this is the wrong place to post this, but what is the definition of Daedra? I don't think Malacath was originally one, yet avter being digested by Boethai he is a Daedric Prince. Also, from what I saw of Clavicus Vile, Azura and Mehrunes Dagon, they all look very different. :? Anyway, I didn't want to hijack this topic, just wondering...
