[Atmospheric/Functional] WSG #19: Fighters Guild

Ah, the fighters guild. Founded by Dinieras-Ves of Versidae-Shaie kinship from what would in time, become the organized faction that this guild of mercenaries is today. However, the Syffim is no more and a truly Tamriellic Fighters Guild provides freelancing adventurers the very niche they fill.

History aside, this WSG focuses on Fighters Guild locales, both exterior and interior. Certainly, it's an operation from Cyrodiil, but what do the Redguards bring to their trade?

Here's a few ideas go get that brain-train running

- What forms of training materials are available? Is their specialized fighting equipment, combat dummies and the like developed differently?

- The dojo, living quarters, storage facilities, ect.. How does that Hammerfellian flavour build this establishment?

What we've been going on for the fighter's guild is you work for what Lute called the dojo and train there. And then you join a knightly order.

Backgroundize!

A little concept to start off this thread: some training equipment.

These pieces are built quite simply and functionally. Notches and curvatures of the weapons are wrought to parry and disarm the opposing combatant. They don't necessarily have to be useable weapons, and can be as basic as clutter in the training hall. The shield to the left is just that. A training shield

training shield is top stuff. and the middle one could be a great mace, so it's actually useable. I hate those restrictions, like not being able to use forks as weapons :P

Anyway, thats really nice.

I have an interior design coming up.

With the middle weapon, are those little prongs sticking out around the inside of the head for 'grabbing' weapon shafts or did I get it completely wrong? Because that would be an interesting idea: You have to 'lasoo' the opponents weapons and pull it away to disarm him... Anyway, I might get a picture, but I don't have too many ideas at the moment so, like last time, I'll just let the drawings flow in for a bit...

Consider this my enry untill I come up with something :) (for those of you who werent here, this was posted a long time ago, before WSG existed) Wow, I feel as though I've come a long way since then!

Redgaurds hold great respect for thier elders, especialy vetrans. These men, often open martial schools to pass on thier skills, especialy the anchient Regaurd longsword arts- a method is considered the finest in all of tamriel. It matches thier personality, unrestrictive, sometimes flashy, and always deadly.

You made the fighting area look like a shrine, what with the candles. If you meant to do that, it's kind of a cool idea.

Yer... I was aiming for more of a cool kinda candlelight basement. Turned into meditational area.

The Log is for attacking, and was going to be an ember, to see if you could hit it hard, yet be fast enoguh n NOT to burn yourself. But I figured it might be hard to do that in game.

The Bookcase is a friggin mess, so is the tapestry on the wall, the etxture is all at the wrong angle. I just fixed the stupid angle of the log (of teh top) AND, i just need to add extra details like terracota tiling probable and some decorative pieces.

BTW don't be surpirsed if my works start getting more design thigns. It means it can double up as art coursework for GCSE :(

Heh, half as much work.

Here is my entry, I entered the WSG as someone once recommended. I just wanted to say I had fun doing this, my drawings were becoming uninspiring to me.

I have a B&W version if it's ever needed.

Xanthier, is this done with pencils? Very nice. Color, proportions, style, functionality, it's very nice.

Pound, needless to speak. Or at least post here!

Yes, pencils. I must say I was more meticulous with this one because it was a WSG and I know people on here would know if things were off. I realized how often I don't check my perspective carefully enough, so I tried to do it right this time. I like the color and original one equally, but the color one is not nearly as colorful scanned. I tried to make it appear functional, hope I succeeded.

oh...and Thanks!

I'm excited to be posting here with all the great artists whose work I admire.

What...Is Greg Land posting here too?!
Kidding, but I do advise that you keep on drawing, even if you think your sketches "lack inspiration", as you wrote previously. Due to the variaty of needed concepts in TR, you'll have the chance to try your hand at lots of different things and greatly improve your work -this was the case for me, and possibly for many other people.

Yes, you're right of course. Sometimes I feel so blocked it was nice to have subject matter already laid out for me. I tried to do some Hammerfell Flora last night as well.

That's nice, people here have almost exhausted their imaginations on that field, fresh stuff will be good. If you'd like to learn about concepts we need, send a pm to Lutemoth or me, and we'll gladly give you a brief list and what info you may need.

I feel that I owe the CA people an explanation for not doing a concept, but I don't have one. Except that they remind me of the boring as hell judo classes I use to have.
Oh that nasty sour smell of washed but slightly sweaty pre-teens pouring through those not quite white anymore outfits.
Is it any wonder I turned out to be such a pervert?

I might still do one, but its 2:05 AM here now.
