This is a creature concept that was presented by Andres Indoril that I decided to re-create. Also I drew a grub creature that I thought might be found in the Alik'r desert of Hammerfell. Here is the description I would use. Please let me know of any inconsistencies or conflicts with lore you encounter
It burrows in the sand and leaves only it's tail exposed which resembles a small desert weed. The tendrils have sensors and glands which serve to absorb moisture and detect changes in temperature as well as discern scents of other organisms carried in the wind. The creature is a predator to small lizards, rodents, bugs and the like. It is fairly docile and sedentary however and is not known to bother larger animals, and will only attack if cornered. I also had it's outer shell as a possible use for a shield.

This is the sabretooth wolf, another concept by Andres Indoril. This is what I thought it might look like, doesn't resemble a typical wolf, but it looks like a fierce hunter. I tried to depict it as faithfully as possible even with the long badger-like claws.
EDIT: sorry, images were huge and had to be removed for a time.

Nice work. However, it makes your work a lot easier on the eyes when you draw seperate ideas seperately, rather than combining them in one picture. Also, try to make shure you paper dosent get folded. Also, I'm not seeing the saberwolf.

As regards the sabretooth wolf:
His back right leg needs to be shortened for purposes of perspective. He's also got a pretty thick back leg muscle mass, but no real hip... his body just kinda slopes into the tail, which to me, seems kinda odd. I really like that hard, spine-like backbone thing it has, though.
Your grub creature/idea is quite lovely.

Hurray, finnaly I can see those pics, you were telling me about . I like them, but the sabretooth wolf doesn't look that much like my dog now... It looks cooler . And my other beast... Looks... Much better too...(I was comparing those pics...) And the grub creature looks awsome as well . Waiting for more
EDIT: The lizard creature looks like it has too urinate (no dirty language from me today ) and the same goes for Sabretooth Wolf. Though for it it looks more like if he would be scratching himself...

Lovely work Xanthier, you're off to a very good start
I'm not going to repeat what others have already said, as there's a good source of info for concept art functionality and such around the forums.
I really like the design for the Grub, very remniscent of a water scorpion, or a dragonfly nymph. I'm afraid, though, that he's exceeding the possible size for an insect his type, as they need to breath through their exoskeleton, and only grow in oxygen rich places (ancient jurassic bugs, Morrowind, Black Marsh, ect). If I were going to be a picky jerk (and I am ), I'd say he'd be a tad smaller (smaller than the man's torso, or head). Course, I and others have gotten away with worse, so it's no big deal. He's got the right style of surviving in his biome, and very plausible IMO. I love 'im

Why do we think Morrowind is O2 rich? I'd say the air there has about as much oxygen as detroit.

I was going off on a tangent there, hehe. To be honest, I accounted the large insects to be not only acredited due to a new biome from the caldera (the volcano caldera, not the town) but something must have been in the atmosphere to help them survive (unless they're entirely different species grown from the insects we would have known to exist with the Chimer). Unless there's a possibility that the ash-air or bitter coast methane bogs have helped them, you can just count the mentioning out as fantasy

Yes Lutemoth for an insect he is too large, that's what my dad keeps telling me, that can be changed if need be.
Anatomy has always been my weakest point, I knew the muscles weren't correct but frankly I got impatient, I will use references to fix that, I have dialup so I'll have to find a book, which isn't as convenient. I also wish I was as educated about organisms in general as much as Lutemoth and the rest, I need to review my wildlife books I think. Thanks for the input everyone, it is greatly appreciated.
Oh, and what do you mean by open topics Macar and how do I get into WSG?

I guess I should have explained. There is a list of open topics in the concept art forum. They are thing that need fuctional drawings done, and anyone can submit. Also the WSG (weekly sketch group) has it's own threads for each week- with a topic. These are two ways you can get info if you want to draw some more stuff and also to give you an idea of what us concept art guys actualy do.xanthier wrote:Yes Lutemoth for an insect he is too large, that's what my dad keeps telling me, that can be changed if need be.

The newest addition to my portfolio here is the Hammerfell Fighter's Guild from the WSG. Per someone's suggestion I kept this page in good condition Thanks Macar.

um....non existent, currently I've only done 2d computer art. nothing will run on my antiquated machine currently, I'm hoping to buy a bran new laptop in the very near future however so I can change that, I've been wanting to for a very loong time. I have 3ds max and I've heard of Blender and Milkshape I believe that were open-source. Any recommendations?

Stick around and you will improve, right now, these look pretty good.
Anatomy is my weak point also, and I was probably your standard when i joined, but I have improved so much here.
Anyway, keep working on them, and the best piece of advice for things like PoHa pointed out, about the leg and perspective; get a light. Holding up the paper to the light with the blank side facing you, basically flips the image. Which i just discovered recently, but it's great to do.
You can spot mistakes easy then.
Anyway, I like the architecture, and it's great your getting stuck in so fast. Keep at it.
