I guess this would be the first song you'll hear of mine, I just made it a little bit ago, I was just playing around on the synth. I used a Roland Synthesizer and Cubase SX to make this file. Be warned there are more mistakes than I can count...but it passed inspection
I plan on making some more specifically for the mod. I just wanted to get something new off the ground to show you guys.

Hey Gesshoku! I like the peice- very nicely composed. However, your synthesizer leaves a little to be desired... Is it possible for you to upload your music as midi? If so I might be able to wring some less synthesized sound out of it.

I cannot save it as a midi file and still have the same sounds, if I did change it, I would (or you) would need a program to re-instate the sounds, I will though see what filtering I can do with my program and re-upload the file.
EDIT: I also have a better synthesizer at the studio, when I get there tomorrow I will look at things. I might just have to do things from there instead. Also, I don't have any MIDI writing programs, I have programs that will record from a midi device, but I have nothing I can make straight from midi. I guess I could get a notation program....when money comes my way, but until then...I'm stuck
EDIT2: I just noticed this synthesizer I have here at home has midi connections, enabling me to use it as an external midi device, thus solving the problem...even though going to the studio would solve the problem as well, but I am usually working when I am there, seeing as I own it and am the only employee, things get heavy sometimes...anyway, I will get this all set up tomorrow and try another arrangement.

It's alright if the sounds are different in the midi- I can change them easily and I'll know what they should be becuase of the mp3 you posted. But, if you think that you can do it without my help- go ahead by all means. I was just trying to help. But it's easier if I dont have to

I would take you up on your offer, except the software I am using won't allow me to export to midi, unless I started with a midi file, I can use a wav/mp3 midi converter but it usually adds tons of "fluke" notes, so to speak. I don't want to put burden on you but if you can find a midi converter and get it to work right, by all means go ahead and fix it for me, I'd appreciate it a lot.
In the mean time, I will work on things on my end, let me know if you come up with anything, or if you don't wanna take too much of your time.
Thanks.

cool
hey, thats not to bad, as you said a few mistakes but still, would fit in nicely. i've been working on some nice acoustic guitar instrumental's that suit public and battle but then there's always the problem of getting a nice smooth track change with a script. awkward...
as I said, I went and got sebelius today (only 1 or 2 dollars...) and I have been messing around with it, and this is my first thing I have come up with. It's not materpiece material by all means, just something to try the program out. It only uses two instruments. I am, this very moment, going to start on something a little more oriented to this project, and it should be out tomarrow.
This piece orgrinally had a trumpet harmony as well, but after mastering the file I didn't like the way it sounded.
I have learned many things in making this musical piece, which will in turn make the next one much simpler and more in depth.
http://media.putfile.com/First-Sibelius-Song
There you have it.
I would like to also know from macar if the physical sound of the file is any better than my other.
Thanks.

You got Sibelius for a buck?! What version?
As for the quality- it's a lot better but the strings sound really stilted. I dont think it's your fault but they need to be legato- especialy in a peice like that. As always- if you want you can send me a midi.
Can wait to hear your next one.

Oh and, about Sibelius...it was some random verson...something like 4...I think...and I paid $4.21 for it...or atleast around there some where...hehe.
Toodles.

Here we are, with my next piece, I believe it's a bit better than the last. There are a few dynamics issues, due to that fact that I am using a touch sensitve midi device, although..after I made the file of course...I realized I could deactivate the touch sensitivy. So even better next time.

The main difference I hear is that 1 has reverb- that's alway better than dry- IMO.
I think it would sound better without the male voice- it sounds unrealistic.

Hehe... I can't really give much input on music (since I know very very little about it) and therefore I don't pay as much attention to showcases that have it as a theme.
I'd imagine that the Admins are the same, though I dunno.
The point is, it seems like there's a necessity of PMing to get anyone promoted around here

I can't change your "TR Member" title though. An Admin will have to do that.

I guess this is what happens when bordem strikes....it didn't even edit right...grr. Anyway, it has nothing to do with modding, but I plan to try and get a battle theme or a dungeon theme going here tonight or in the morning.
Well, here is the link....

Might want to try throwing in some eco and reverb to take the edge off the synth.
Escape B is sounds spot on though, could maybe use a little soft percussion in places, triangles, tambourine, cymbals or somthin, nothing too heavy.
Anyway, nice work. Welcome aboard and congrats, look forward to hearing more of your work.

Dave. The boredom peice has some potential. First of all- it gets a litte to repetative after a while. That, and I think it would be a good idea to replace the bass drum with timpani or taikogesshoku wrote:I guess this is what happens when bordem strikes....it didn't even edit right...grr. Pug, buddy, nice to see you. When are you going to write something new for us
First chance I get which is today and tomorrow.
Sorry I've not been doing much, life has been keeping me busy (gave up on HOI2, cant finish a game, keep restarting).
Went and got myself a new job last week, more money but longer hours. Only have sundays off now, and I only have sundays off if I'm not away to shetland or the west coast working. I've also been laying a new patio in my garden, so thats been taking up my spare time, it's almost done though. I'll try to get somthing done soon. If not, feel free to demote my ass
I was planing on doing somthing with a spannish guitar.

This is the 3rd, and likely final re-mastering of the song Escape. The main difference between B and C is I took out the vocal choir. Also in C I forgot to add one mastering effect, so it's velocity (volume) is all over the place, if by any chance this song goes somewhere I will edit it to perfection, but until then I feel this song has come to an end. One more thing, when I added the plate (reverb) the trumpet became very metallic sounding, I know why, but I thought I would just tell ya so you don't have to point out ALL my mistakes
http://media.putfile.com/Escape-Version-C
Thanks for listening.
Enjoy!
EDIT: After listening to them all again and again, I hate this version. B still stands as my preference. The voices don't sound too un-realistic (to me) for a number of reasons. One is that they are in "normal" vocal range for a male. Plus, this comes from working in a studio, adding a base vocal line brings out character in a piece. The one thing I might change is adding some percussion, if I do I will post again, if not, it's what it is.

First off, this type of music isn't really my style, so the following "blurp" of music came out of thin air...or perhaps some divine intervention or sumthin...
Anyway, what it is...it's the start of a battle sequence, but I have been sitting here for hours trying to come up with an intro/ending and it's driving me crazy. So I guess I will just post the file anyway, seeing as it may take me a week to come up with something of this sort.
Macar, Pug...if either of you can think of a way to add on to it, or perhaps change something, go right ahead, PM me and I will upload the file for you.
Everyone else, please let me know if it's even going to fit, although even if it doesn't I will still finish it.
Thanks for taking the time.
http://media.putfile.com/PRE-Battle-seq
I await response!
EDIT: It has NOT been mastered so "physically" it sounds like stinky socks. Also, due to the fact that I have been able to go anywhere since I came up with what I did, this "blurp" is 30 seconds of repetitivness basically

What it needs is some sort of descant in a higher instrument after a few bars of the repitition. I'd say something like french horn would work best.

I will play around with the battle sequence later today.
Next, I lied....I have a final-final version of Escape. The only difference between this version (B-B) and the "master" version (B) is I have added some rev cymbal, and adjusted the EQ curve. Other than that it is exactly the same.
http://media.putfile.com/EscapeB-B
I was also wondering if this piece would fit anywhere in a mod project. Ifso, do I need to change anything? If not, no worries, I can always come up with more.

I've done a little bit with the battle sequence. I have two versions, one with reverb, one without. I am sure you can tell the difference. Anyway, let me know what needs to be changed. It is really really short...I might add on, but this is a good teaser anyway.

The first peice- escape- is miles better. The only thing is- thoward it needs a little more drive to it. If you used piano or harp to play broken chords on eighth notes, it would be just about perfect. I can definately see this being incorperated!
Battle still needs some work. You are on the right track- you just need to develop it more- combat tracks should be at least 1:00 in length. (and just for your refference- the standard length for explore music is 2:00)
I'm glad to see your devotion to our project- keep up the good work.

I not sure if the harp through the whole song sounds okay, I know the rythm is off, I am just seeing what can be done. I tried two different octaves, I need some input. Should I just have the harp at the end, after the trumpet solo, or should I keep it through the song? (of course fixing the syncapation)
Let me know.

I did actualy mean after or durring the trumpet solo. Also, I meant with the harp playing notes at 2x that rate- to give more movement.
