It's a special mod installation format, inspired by things such as the umods for unreal, that allows you to package a mod into a single file. Everything -- the mod itself and its data files -- are in the .omod file.

You need Oblivion Mod Manager to, well, manage these mods. Another of TimeSlip's great TES software.

damn, that'll be really handy. whats the compression like with it? my current mod works out at about 400mb with all the stuff in *.bsa files.

Depending on the compression type, contains either a LZMA stream or a Deflated one
Zip-level compression.
