Knights Of The Nine

Post by angelus6 »

Well, knights of the nine sucks! (in my opinion)
total lack of origonal questing ideas and poorly made new items. it all seems very rushed to me.
Knights of The Nine is the new DLC Oblivion Mod for those that don't know.

aye. it's not so much the models that bother me really. it's just the whole quest line and the majority of it being FedEx style quests. doesn't really add to much to the game other than slightly over powered armour and half an hour play time.

well, kinda. it's very "go here, kill this, bring back item etc" but 30mins for a good player maybe an hour for a 'real' noob

So much for the 15 hrs they had promised. Not that we shouldn't expect it.

lol, indeed. i mean, i shouldn't even have played this yet (as it's not out untill December 4th) so im probably breaking the NDA but... 15 hours is a total joke really. and it's nigh on impossible to find where your supposed to go to start the damn guild. actually, thats where the 15 hours is - trying to find out how to start the quest ;)

Ah, great. $10? Why don't they pay us instead? Stirk's certainly more promising.

I vowed after i saw how shit OB was, I wouldn't ever waste my money on a downlaod.

Then I joined TR, now I am fulfilled. All pisstaking aside thoguh, I think that I would expect this from a mod group, and what we're trying to achieve from a landmass expansion ($10).

Personally, I find this a huge improvement over the spambox telling you in the dungeon that your great granduncle just died and you inherited his knighthood title, so you should go to the new mapmarker pronto.

Porca miseria... I believe though that JOG (maker of Thievery In The Imperial City) has made a small mod that fixes the annoying spambox-style messages with those plug-ins.

o.O I hate mods that add weapons or armor, clothes etc. without a quest associated with them. Ehh, boring.

Something's not right here.... 30 minutes .... c'mom they say it's a new guild with a questline and stuff you just could not finnish it in 30 minutes. If that would to be true Bethesda could easly be sued for false advertising...

Reading about it on other fora, from people who've played it (it's been released, what's that talk about NDA? I saw it in shops as of 20 minutes ago!), that it's definitely longer than 30 minutes, and that finding where to start the quest isn't that hard if you ask around about rumors -- remember the Solstheim topic in Morrowind, added by rumors? -- you learn about some problem in Anvil's chapel.

And there's definitely a quest associated to the new armor. Indeed, one of the first quest is finding the "crusader helm" which is an old relic.

Also, there are a lot of new books.

No, our decision was that we would not use any of the official Oblivion add-ons in our work. Full expansions are another story, but this crap is anything but.

If I can find it somewhere for nothing, and it brings back the feeling of Morrowind, I'll download it.

Are we allowed to republish the books? We do it for previous games and it will be at TIL.

as far as i know, since you have to pay for DLC mods then Bethesda can sue/close down this project for basically distributing content they charge for, for free. even if it's something as minor as a book. i think anyway. hence why Knights of the Nine and Vile Lair were done in a new version of the CS so the files cannot be opened in the existing public CS. it is possible with a HexEditor but thats a differant matter entierly...

There's hex editting. TIL's going to get it done some time and we can just copy from there.

which is fine. but it still remains that bethesda can sue us for distributing content that must be paid for, for free. they'll see it just the same as getting it off a torrent site. best bet would be to try and contact them for permission i guess. but i can't see it happening

no, it's the mod content i mean. the game content is fine to re-use it's because u have to pay seperatly for the mod content then it's a problem to them.

If all you want is the text from the books, it's even simpler to just open the esp with a good text editor, such as UltraEdit or Programmer's Notepad (or Emacs or Vim!).
