Landscaping Question

Post by Legolas55 »

I am new here and I have a question. Do exterior claims have to match the detailed map EXACTLY. For example, I am doing a mountainous region. Should I place the same amount of mountains in the same places as on the texture map?

You don't have to follow the map exactly, as that would be extremely difficult to do. Follow it as much as you can, but also make sure you follow it as much as possible at the borders, allowing a better 'line up' to your neighbors claims. If you can download your neighbors claims, do so to match up your claim even better.

And please...please... maintain static and texture consistency. All too often I see claims where people have mixed statics and textures from different region types. Bittercoast regions with Grazeland rocks and plants, mixed in with a few Ascadian Isles textures looks horrible, and doesn't make sense.

If the texture map says its a West Gash region, stick with West Gash statics and textures. And look to see how Bethesda made that region and replicate the style of West Gash.

Sorry Legolas... its not aimed at you specifically or anything. I've just been walking the maps a lot lately taking screenshots and its so frustrating cause people figure they can just use whatever statics and textures they think looks good.

the main purpouse of maps is to show u what to build ..but it could be used after even in game session so ... what would happen if while playng u consult your map and u find that that mountain u were searching for doesn't exist and instead there is a swamp ? or if u searched a city and u cant find ?

Yes, ok. I am following the map, concerning mountain placement and textures. But there are some spots where one texture blends into another, for example, in my claim, there is a bit of grazelands that goes into west gash.

when one of my claims was like that it had mountains bordering a flat area. i made the mountains WestGash and the low areas Grazelands. i recommend you do that since there are no true GrazeLand style mountains.

if where they merge is a flat area and no mountains around than make the change gradual. like closer you get to the WG region the more and more WG statics you see until its a true WG region

Yes, that is what I am doing. I am making the grazelands area smaller and smaller with less statics, and the west gash bigger and bigger with more statics.
