I suppose there are always good communities in online games. Aartan Ridge, my Galaxies guild was filled with awesome people who typed properly and you could genuinely talk to and have a good time with.
But the world/sever was filled 90% with idiots everywhere, and thats what spoiled it for me, there were so many who you just wanted to remove because they were annoying or spammers.
Thats one of the reasons I ultimately left the game for, and wouldn't wish any other game I hold dear to be converted into online form.

lol. honestly, i woundnt mind a well done TES online game. however, i dont think that TES lends itself well (or at all perhaps) to an online franchise. and yes, n00bs would be a problem. while the screen shows an EXTREAM example, there are always the more mainstream nooblets ("where do i find Bali?" "where is applewood?""LFG""LFG"LGF"LFG""). in general, i am a defender of the MMO, but i dont think TES needs one in the forseable future.

Actually, if you've ever played Run-escape, you'll know that that example is NOT extreme. People there actually act like that, and considering the average age of an ES fan after Oblivion, I'd say it's very possible that that would happen.

exactly! if OB became online do you think you would have to pay for it? im wandering because it would be hard for just the hosts computer to host that entire server containing that many players. obvisiously they would have to be hosted at bethesda.Lady Nerevar wrote:im talking about an actual MMO. run-escape barly qualifies as a game. Also, run-escape is free and shit, attracting assholes and idiots of all calibers.
what about if it was just the "multiplayer" option on the menu. if it was that way, then i would expect they would make it for LAN. wow. just the thought of OBMMORPG makes my pants tight. i cant wait!

all of this makes me wonder... you DO know that the screen is a joke right?
you would definatly have to pay, it just dosnet work without it (GW bieng an obvious exeption, i wont go into that). and it wouldnt be oblivion. few people can run it to begin with, it is imposible to run OB's graphics on an MMO.
LAN could probably work, though it too has its complications.

I'd kill for LAN play in TES. *IF* and thats a big if, a bunch of real TES fans, people into the lore and world and roleplaying were the players of a MMORPG, it would work out very well. Unfortunately thats not reality, and most people, especially after the "mainstreaming" of oblivion are utter idiots.
If only there could be MMORPG servers run by other organizations, where they could limit who could join and play to mature people playing seriously...Then they'd be a fantastic experience.

>.< Online Oblivion would be fantastic.
There could be scavenger hunts for Artifacts and everything! That'd be pretty cool, in my opinion.
I guess, in multiplayer Oblivion, instead of having Imperial Watch and City Guard etc. they could have, dun dun dunnnnnn.
SPELLING POLICE. They throw spammers and peeps hu talk leik dis in leik prsns. There'd of course be a lot of errors with connection etc. But I think it'd be pretty worth it.

That's not Oblivion Online would be like. If Oblivion were a MMORPG, everyone would be running around wearing the Helm of Bearclaw and full Daedric, and a few naked level 1s would be asking everyone else where they can find the master blade trainer.

I much prefer my Black Hand hood .
Edit: Note that there actually IS an attempt at making Oblivion multiplayer. I found it a long time ago, and it was brought up on the page anyway.

its not happening, at least not on a large scale so why worry?
unless beth makes their next game online I usually dont pay much attention to it because I remember people trying to get Morrowind online and that never happened I dont think
