questions from a new visitor

Post by gaki »

ya im the annoying new forum member asking the noob questions but here goes;

when did this project start? I ask this because if it started something like right after MW was relesed... well there isnt any real sense in waiting... by waiting i mean waiting for it to be finished for TES3-- i plan on starting a replay of it and was looking to expand it, and the thought of this mod amazes me but if its been in the works for that long its unlikely that it will be 100% done any time soonish... and i wouldnt want wait that long to play it... also if i started a character now and it did come out soon (within like the next few months) well id have to start over again which would be lame-o-- wow that took a little too much text to explain why i asked that haha

ok next,
i know from the forums that you all have started working on a TR for TESIV-- which is great but truthfully-- judging by how long its taken for TESIII; TR, do you think TESIV;TR will be done before the release of the next TES game?-- this is important because with each subsequent TES game release the validity of the TR project (lore-wise) vs the released games dwindles-- im sure this has been seen from TESIII; TR compared to TESIV already-- as pre-TESIV lore described cyrodil as a tropical jungle, which clearly anyone who has played TESIV can tell you, it was not made this way thus the lore has changed. Not that its too big a deal mind you, but I dunno if when i get into the lore things- that is if im going to devote time to fan-made lore, I like for it to not contradict beth's stuff as much as possible (if at all possible really...) Mainly just because later down the road if I play something official that contradicts it, it sort of pulls me out the immersion... if that makes any sense...

anywho thanks for reading my questions in advice, sorry they were so long haha... its just the way i am sometimes. And I hope i didnt sound like a dont respect the mod, cause believe me the first time i heard of this (a couple nights ago) i nearly crapped my pants with excitement! and I am still excited and only wish to play it soon T_T

Everyone starts somewhere, welcome.

Sometime around the release of the Tribunal expansion IIRC

We work with what we have, fortunately there really isn't anything in oblivion that contradicts what we have done with morrowind.

Don't worry about it, and glad I could help

We are actually pretty far along. Map 1 is having quests added and tested, map 2 is going through detailing and its last few filler interiors are being done. Map 3's exteriors have all been merged and are being fixed while the city interior claims are finishing up. Maps 4, 5, and 6 are still just having their exteriors done, although there are map 4 interiors up for claiming. So it won't be done soon, in a complete fashion, however map 1 is nearing a quested playable state.

what? are you smoking something thrig?

this mod started before morrowind came out, some time after it was anounced that it would only take place on VV>

part of the reason we expect HF to be done sooner then MW is that we have experiance behind us. one of the major reasons MW is taking so frekin long is because we have had to redo tons of stuff and got of to a bad start in many areas. with hammerfell we know how to succesfully manage a project and have high quality standards inplace (among other things).

and welcome!

N, you have to remember that none of the old TR work from those days actually still exists in our mod. Everything from those days has been more than built over since then. (Often rebuilt numerous times, maybe that's the best reason for our name :P )
And saying that MW is taking too long is a bit counterproductive. Beth spent years building just Vvar.

Anyway, the bad old days are over now. Nothing gets into TR that isn't of good quality, and we coordinate claims between modders properly these days too.

That's when I joined.

@Lud, if you're not using any of the stuff from those days, please remove everything with my name on it from the mod.

Noir, I was referring to the first few months of TR. As in, "Claim C", etc. (Hlaalu on what is now map1) These really old claims have been re-worked numerous times.

You're misinterpreting me. I meant from back before these forums. (And before the forums before these forums :P )

Ah, those times.

Not even I was around in those times. FYI, "those times" are refered to as the "Old System."

Heh, the Old claims system.
"Just take a huge chunk o'land and do what you want with it. Then we'll glue'em together.

I always found it funny that the old arguments are described as "wars". (And I found it utterly bewildering as a newb just peering into a forum caught up with the ST stuff)

i find war to be as appropriate a word as flame, if not more so. A long series of flames wich lead to a succesion and a revolution is very much a war in my opinion.

actualy, im 100% sure one of the old claims was merged into map5. alteast it was back in the summer of 04 when i played it. there are probably more around that have since been changed (argon jungle?)

in terms of claiming progresion you forgot the claims browser switch.

PS. Gen X all the way!

Black Light (Rodan's version), Reich Parkeep (sp?) and Silgrad Tower were all old claims. The swamp around ST was another old claim. Some of the Velothi mountains may have started old.

The north part of map 1 is still pretty close to the land that was raised and shaped for Claim C.

I guess as far as we are concerned, the old work has been built over (except that swamp around ST which we still have).

(Hmm... I was looking for the old maps, and found that I have most of the orginal Map 1 claims from before the first merge).

Wow, TR's Hisory seems quite interesting... Anyone thought about writing it? Maybe put it on the new site?
