Thanks Haplo and Lute. :D

I was also worried about it looking modern. And I dunno why it does. I'm scared it's because of the smoke or the washing lines, which are 2 of my favourite components of the piece.

I am definitely going to change the chimney and roof on the house in the foreground, because it think that makes it looks modern.

Thanks for pointing that out, or confirming that problem for me. i can get it sorted now, cus I know it's not just me seeing it wrong.

Yea, it does look very modern (like, industrial revolution). Here is why I think it does:

1) Too much smoke. This looks like a coal burning factory or oil refinery.

2) The buildings are very tall, very simple, and very strait. These aren't bad individually, but together they look like cheap brick buildings from the industrial revolution.

3) It looks to be close too night (lots of shaddow), but there are a lot of bright areas and reflections. The ground particularly looks like wet asphalt reflecting the surroundings.

I liked the stacked building look, but make it more jumped and detailed. :)

Actually, I believe it's quite a represantative image of an islamic city. What makes it look so modern is the color of the sky and background which does resemble today's factories. Taneth's the next place I'll be drawing functional concepts of, Pound style.

I would say the smoke, the 3 or 4 plain MS Paint-looking windows on the building on the right, and what looks like a grid-iron staircase on the right all make it look modern. But it's still very good.

1. Toned the smoke down

2. Tried to combat it, didn't do a good job, hoping the kinda designs/murals on the wall will counteract this. And the fact that I got rid of the steel pipe looking chimney.

3. It was going to be dawn, after a night of rain, but that was difficult to make, so I've put in 2 versions now, and I think the blue looks nice.

And i did add some detail on the stacked buildings, excellent crits, that helped a lot thanks CC.

I did change the sky, lets see people opinions whether it's good enough! :P BTW I hope with the extra designs it makes it more interesting to functionalise these, I am also quite honoured to have some of my atmospheric get sued for something! Thanks Scum :D.

I god rid of the thing that i thought you ere referring to, the iron fire escape looking thing. If you mean the things close to the archway, they are viennese shutter windows. I haven't done very much on the windows, sorry, i might try again later and I toned the smoke down.

Excellent crit everyone, that's very useful, and I hope this can look increasingly less modern.

Looking much better!

I still think the smoke is too thick and dark, and the ground too shiney.

I like the designs on the buildings.

You might be able to make a dark dark layer under the ground part, then adjust its opacity to tone it down ever so slightly. I like the shininess to denote water, but it looks like a mirror now! Perhaps add a bit of noise to the later to give it some texture? I'm not sure if you have that part as a separate layer, but it wouldn't be too hard to cut it free of the other layers if you do not.

Added some texture, like stone slabs or soemthing, anyway, i can't remeber what else, but it's improved.

Double post... sorry :\

But to make up for it, I actually have some drawings... which is an unusual situation as I haven't updated this thread with proper fresh work in quite a while. I have been working with Sload, and I will eventually post the aforementioned work when the series is complete. In the mean time, or spare time, of which there is not much, being my last year of school, in my penultimate term (YAY!), I have actually put pen to paper, or in this case.... Flimsy plastic cylinder to smooth sensitive acrylic surface (YAYmore!). Anyway, I don't need to write excuses!

Subject that Lutemoth suggested I could mess about with. Was very entertaining. Decided this critterman, is about 2 feet tall (Ala Tokoloshe) and is blind, which is why he carries his walking stick. It means he has less mercy, he can't see his victims. It is common word that when you almost fall asleep, but then jump in surprise, while in in light slumber, is because you have been poked by this abomination, with his walking stick, while he is trying to search out food. Additionally when old people die in their sleep, it is also often rumoured they die, because their reactions aren't fast enough, to wake up, and scare the little horror away.

Ofcourse, it is always brushed off as a little wives tale, as the bodies of people who died peacefully in their sleep are always uneaten. But who is to say this devil thing doesn't devour your life as a spiritual thing.... Your soul! Mwuhahahaha!

/me takes torch from beneath his face

And here is my own re-representation of the bird animal.

I kinda went for a more bear like, climbing machine, althoguh bear in mind, these are much smaller than bears.... think small dog size. But bigger than a cat.

beautiful and beautiful! Your god-myth-folken is quite adorable, I must say (that's the only word I can use to describe his appearance!)

The bird-mammal is divine, Pound! I fully support this creature, as he's a perfect evolutionary split-off in the bird-monkey family. He reminds me of an anteater, by his stature, but does appear the type that would lumber around the Totambu and further off places. He, too, is adorable :D

Thanks dude. So i need to work no the little gnomey devil bloke, he's too cute :P, to be a monster anyway.

And I also need to make the bird thing less anteatery. As it was my own critism of yours. I just feet that anteaters aren't very maneuverable, and that it's the wrong type of animal to climb. I dunno, I think it's the tail that amkes it like one. Thanks.

Great job. And I think that a cute non-hostile animal would be great. Like guars. :D

Well I have done some weird Quagmire Daedra. They have an eye on them, that Lute had used to create the portals. I think I should stop colouring thigns in, 'quickly' It just loses all the detail, and doesn't help muc, especially with the uncolourful things these are.

Anyway, to amke these beasts obvious in pitch black conditions, they ahve glowing parts on their bodies.

This one in particular is huge, and has deformed knobbly stumps rather than hands. And straneg HAnd like feet, yest they ahve no speperate digits. Both are wart ridden.

This one is half the size of an Imperial man. They are really fast, and eitehr fly or use their four legs from one pelvis to gallop along floors, biting joints of bi-pedal enemies.

Absolutely eerie, Pound! If I saw any one of those's eyes and insignia glowing in the dark, I'm not sure if I could confront it. Seriously, it inspires me to try a quagmire monster now :D

Thanks dude :D

Added soem mroe deatil to those beaties, and can't wait to see your ideas for a few. I was just intrigued when Eyeball said Quagmire Daedra :P.

But here is a set of armours. I know I said I'd cut down, but... I just coudln't.

The 3rd one started off as a design for the naval clothing. I was thinkign of some armour, suitable for light and easy manuevarbility, and yet still rpotective. And still being ergonically useful. So You can still climg masts and balance in roguh seas. The 2nd you may recognise. I am going back throguh all of my favoruite armours and drawign them in this style, so they are more presentable. I won't do it with all of them, just those i thoguht were successful. The 1st is a new submission.

If I was in a particularly bawdy mood (and when am I not) I'd say the Quagmire Daedra were both girls.

I hope that from all the other creature concepts we have already, we can at least have the flying Daedra. Just having that creature alone would seem to make the Quagmire dungeons unique enough. BTW these concepts remind me of old FPSs.

Err, heres the Vamab.

The Vamab is a dog like creature. A scavenger for sure, they are pack hunting creatures. A pack is a Jhit pronounced sjheet. This would be a Jhit Vamabu, alone they would quickly perish. It primarily roams the glistening oasis' of Hammerfall. Because by day they often need a place to bathe in cool water to keep their temperature down, mud also works. The strange rituals the snake-men partake in the mud's near Rihad are often wallowed in with great care, for fear of these animals. Due to their muddy colour, extremely flexible limbs and fabled blood sucking abilities they can hide, lay low and attack extremely efficiently. On the subject of the limbs, they are as flexible as a regular imperials forearms. Thus often letting them be mistaken for werewolves.

Unfortunately these creatures are misunderstood, like most. They may occasionally feed on livestock by tearing apart their bodies and bleeding them dry. But more often they will tear apart small dunedweller camps for foods and leave the defenceless citizens of the travelling camp alive, while only stealing their resources. And dundweller shaman along with the rest of the community of them can assume after the attacks there is good luck on it's way.

Edit: Thanks the most to Slaod for Yoku wordings. And thanks to Lute, who set the background idea which I think we shoudl stick with for concept uniform. And thansk to Andres for helping me fidn the settings for it! :P

Yes Macar, I ahve been working on him slowly. But I am tryign really hard to learn 3 point perspective freehand, if that makes sense. I tried to here. No particular town layout, I don't know what I was thinking, I just iamgine somwhere like this in Hammerfell, whther it's do-able is anotehr matter. I was thinkign on the coast near Taneth. But to be honest I've made so many of these random little towns.

I think from now on, I won't post WIPS, becuase then they ahve to be finished. This isn't a WIP, and even has a set to go with it. Unfortuntely, any cool little deatils about the set on the atmospheric piece were lost quickly, when I atom bombed the little amount of pencil work at the base of the picture.

I really like the design of those houses in your pencil sketch. They'd be perfect easy set to model.

Armour addict here. With an armolicious update. worried if it's too japanese, but been reassured on IRC it's passable.

Quite Japanese indeed, but it's got something fluent about it, could fit with a few touches here and there.
